Hi all,
Quite by surprise I received a n. copelandii 'Apo' today in the mail. Reading about it, I understand it's a highland plant, or maybe intermediate. BE identifies it as highland, but easy to grow as a low lander.
I'd be really excited about the free plant, except that I can only grow...
This was my first Nepenthes that I bought to see how well I could grow one. As I discovered, like most CPs, the difficulty of growing them is exaggerated and I have acquired several others since but have never positively identified this one. So have at it, Nepenthes experts!
Pitchers are...
Last year I threw a handful of untreated/unscarified Drosophyllum seed under the mass of dead leaves from a droso plant that had expired the year before and then I torched the whole thing. I left the pot sit outside and this spring this is what popped up in that pot. I don't know if the...
It can be done! This plant summers outdoors and during the cooler months sits on top of the bar in my living room. (The bottles of scotch that once sat there have been replaced by plants... priorities). It slows down a bit in the winter but overall I'd say it's one tough plant.

Hi,
this is sorta my introduction to these forums. My name is Benyamin, I'm from The Netherlands. I used to have a pretty nice collection of the crazy monsters amongst the peaceful leafs. :) About ten years ago my...
Here I am, starting threads like crazy again, but that's irrelevant.
My dad told me that he was planning to build me a small greenhouse this summer (not sure how big yet) and I was hoping to heat it to 50-60 degrees in winter so that my neps could stay somewhere more humid and sunny in winter...
Hi all,
I have a N. x hookeriana growing in a pot of carnivorous mix bought from California Carnivores about six months ago. The mix was made up of lfs, perlite, and I think a small amount of lava rock and bark. Lately I've noticed the pot smells somewhat of like a fresh potting mix - that sort...
I suppose it's about time so I'll start with some recent pictures. Quite a few actually.
Plants waking up outdoors.
Some native Oregon sphagnum I'm growing with the outdoor plants, covered with netting to discourage those pesky birds.
My crazy S. "Daina's Delight" growing more than 100...
Hello everyone. I have been in the chat and lurking around a bit so thought I'd finally put together an intro thread. I'm just starting to get into carnivores aside from some success with Nepenthes before and a failure with Darlingtonia outdoors over winter some years back. I have a 4ft T5...
Just curious. I'm really surprised by how long mine have lasted. The last of this past late summer/early fall pitchers is just now finally starting to brown out. Considering my winter RH has been around 15%, I'm quite impressed.
Mine hasn't formed any new pitchers since last year which was...
I forgot I even had these growing, but I really do like these "kitten's ears" succulents. Nice and fuzzy to the touch, and grows without any help needed whatsoever. Use as ground covering or allow to trail/vine. Seems to be fairly winter hardy and resistant to strong sun. Mine are grown in about...
I've positively over-run with Heliamphora! Please take these H.minor off my hands. They're a little etiolated because they're in natural sunlight on my window, and well... it's dimmer in the winter. You get the whole pot full, shipped bare root. US only please.
Bidding starts at $1. I'll...
(Stock image pulled from online cause I don't have a good whole-crop pic like this of mine to post:)
Native to Louisiana (and apparently Texas), it is one of the tallest growing species of Iris known. They die back to the tubers during winter, and re-emerge each spring. They are happy sitting...
Up for auction is a rooted cutting of N. ventricosa x maxima which I received from a friend over winter. The cuttings and the plants are all growing quickly and well, seems to be a good clone. The photos of pitchers are from one of my established plants and the cutting photo is what you'll...
A rare and unusual hybrid form of the traditional E. Tirucalli 'pencil cactus' that produces heavily pointed, bushy branches. I only know of one grower (aside from me) that even has this hybrid available. At maturity it grows into a tree and begins to form a bark-like skin on it's largest/oldest...
Panicum virgatum 'Heavy Metal' One nice size clump
Very nice ornamental grass.
Stiff, metallic blue blades distinguish this carefree native grass. Retains vertical form without flopping, topped by airy pink-tinged panicles in summer. Bright yellow foliage in fall. Attractive seed heads provide...

Hey, terraforums. I have some vft's and I want to build a cold frame for them. Would it be possible to use a grow tent as one or would it not insulate them properly. I managed a windowsill dormancy last winter, but I plan to expand my collection this season and I have no more room on my...
I took my 15 VFT out of the refrigerator today and removed them from the moist peat moss they were stored in over the winter. Potted them in pure peat moss. They are in a sunny window in my unheated garage since we are expecting a cold snap late this week down to the mid 20's. Might bring in my...
