    old leaves for propagation

What is the success rate using leaves that are "on their last legs" for propagation? Is the amount of rhizome the only thing that's important? I'm not seeing any growth in what I'm using.. am I wasting my time? Adam

    Falconeri propagation

Success after 20 leaves! Now, I must find out if there's a better way to do this! I pull off the leaves and stick em in live sphagnum. 2 months later this one popped up. I lost all the rest. I tried this with 5 leaves. Next, I pulled out 15 leaves and stuck em in a container of water. None...

    Heliamphora pollination

So I've got a developing flower stalk on my H. heterodoxa x minor. I'm going to try and cross it with an H. 'Tequila' using the former plant as the mother. Any tips? There is surprisingly little information about this on this forum. I've never done this before so... yeah. I'd REALLY like this to...

    Ping leaf cuttings

During November/December period when the weather is cooler and more humid, I like to repot my Pings and take leaf pullings for propagation. This method worked well for me last year so I am repeating it. ^_^ These leaves were pulled off on 8th November 2007. This is how they are now. A...

    Nepenthes display!!!

Hello again :) So now that I've found time to return to my job at my college's greenhouse, I've learned that I was quasi-promoted. Instead of doing regular maintenance and all that jazz... they're paying me to basically play with the plants (displays, propagation, pruning), and they...

    D. paradoxa propagation

I recently heard from a fellow CPer that he has got some (10-20%) successes propagating D. paradoxa using leaf cuttings. Anyone here tried it before?

    Leaf Pullings

Hiya, Do CARNIVOROUS leaf pullings work just as well as Non carnivorous? The reason is at Ed's greenhouse the other day we were going to propagate a Cephalotus but decided not to as we were uncertain of what to do since it was in a clump (we were just poking at it and lifting up pitchers haha)...

    Propagation of Annual Sundews

Yeah, so basically I was wondering if you can take like leaf cuttings of annual sundews, I know that burmannii cuttings don't work, but possibly others? I'm thinking of D. Indica in particular. Thanks - Jeff

    Looking for N. rafflesiana...

A small rooted cutting or other small, young plant is fine (or a cutting with directions on rooting it! :)), as I don't have much by way of carnivores to trade- most of mine are quite small. I can attempt a cutting of my N. ventricosa (90% sure of species), and I have a Wal-Mart noID Ping that's...

What do you grow as windowsill plants?

I made this list up for another thread of what I grow as windowsill plants. I was curious what plants others grow this way. When I first started to grow CP's, I also thought you had to have high humidity. My first tank has water in the bottom of it all the time to keep the humidity up. The top...

    UPDATE on NASC Progress

Over the past year, a lot has been accomplished by NASC. Much of it hasn't been what you'd call "exciting" work, but its been necessary in order to lay the organizational foundation that we need in order to achieve our long-range goals. There has been a lot of paperwork (and of course...

    Heliamphora Tequila cultivation queries

Hi everyone, I need your help to some questions. 1. How much light does this hybrid need? Is it more like Cephalotus which can do well in bright shade or like highland Neps that can take full sun? 2. What is its need for humidity? I know it is high but how high? Above 70%? 3. Has anyone...
