this is my water report, i don't think it has* changed much or my fish would show it (they are very sensitive and their colors usually change when there is a difference in the water quality ..or temperature)
would this water be safe for mexican pings, or would it be better if it were diluted by...
Hi! It's been a while!
After browsing the web I've found a lot of really neat lava rocks with pings growing out of them. How is this done?
1) How big does the lava rock have to be?
2) Does it require ANY soil?
(I find myself having a lot of issues with peat or sand. I do well with almost...
I want to feed some of my droseras, nepenthes, heli, and pings. Food in the winter is def scarce outside and some of this plants are in a terrarium which means no food other than the light.
I saw this post and thought about buying this food...
I am assuming they are turning into smaller succulent leaves. So that's the cue to reduce watering. BUT MAN, they look so different compared to when they first arrived Sept and in October. Since I'm a first time grower I don't really know if i'm doing things right. So need expert opinions...
Hey all,
I have one U. nuelumbifolia available for trade… Since it's tropical, we'll have to be careful about shipping and weather temps. It is young, but has a photosynthetic stolon coming on pretty strong.
I am nearly maxed out on Sarr space… I am really into the following (but not...
I have been on planning on changing my mexican Pinguicula soil to a pure mineral base. I am currently using the sarracenia northwest mix which contains sand, peat and perlite. It just seems a little too wet. After reading as many posts I can on this forum on pure mineral mixes I am still...
Hello all
I live in NE Florida where I have a bunch of native CPs already. I've collected some that are growing on my land as well as recently purchased a few Sarrs to round out my collection of native Florida species. I'm wanting to pot them up so I can have them in my back yard to enjoy...
Greetings! I have a whole collection of various mexican pinguicula growing under 7 x 4ft sunblaster t5's high output. They are about 8 inches above the plant canopy. The high output's are putting about 75-80 in temperature on the pinguicula. I notice on a few of my pings that the leaves are...
I have several varieties of pings that now resemble mutant brussels sprouts. Do any of you have suggestions for awakening them? Would longer photoperiods, increased temperatures, or slightly more water help? I know they are more susceptible to root rot when they are dormant, so I am hesitant to...
Hello all!
I've recently added a few mexican pings to my previously drosera and sarracenia heavy collection. this is my first year growing plants under artificial lights, and I'm not sure exactly how short a photoperiod I should bring the mexican pings down to. will 10 hours be short enough to...
I've been promising the pics of my Yard o' Pings for the better part of the summer, but I keep forgetting them. This evening I was mowing the lawn and saw the plants and remembered that a bunch of you guys wanted to see them, so here they are! About half of these pics show plants that have...
Hello all,
It's not a CP, but I have three "pups", smaller corms that formed alongside my S. venosum available for trade. One is dime-sized, the other two are around the size of a nickel. I am looking for tropical pings, temperate dews, and I always have room for another Sarr or utric.
Let...
Hello all,
I am considering attempting to naturalize a population of VFTs in my front yard here in the swamp in NE Florida. I already have pings and sundews growing in that part of the yard and I have several sarrs growing elsewhere as well. There are also bladderworts in the swamp at the...
Soooooo, I made the mistake to choose my Pings based on looks.
I read in Savage Garden that Esseriana is a tropical ping. Pirouette is a hybrid and I couldn't find Tina anywhere.
It also says temperate shouldn't go on a windowsill. So, I just want to make sure this three pings are compatible...
I've been trying to fill in my pings of the southeast collection and this is one of the ones I am wanting, especially after that CPN article about them. If you have some that you are willing to trade please pm me and maybe we can work something out.
Thanks!
I am under the impression that they are very easy to grow. I'll prob keep them in doors in the kitchen with filtered sunlight through out the day. If i follow general ping directions there shouldn't be many surprises right?
Thanks !
I am thinking about maybe getting into pings. I find the colorful, non green ones most appealing, but I am unsure what ones would be the best starter plants. Any ideas?
