hello everyone, i ordered my first heliamphora, and its minor var pilosa :boogie:
i know i should have started with some cheaper/easier sp. but i just couldnt resist buying this one!
so i would like to know what is the best potting media for it and how slow and difficult is it?
After reading a great article by Jeff Shafer on how he successfully grew N. villosa in a modified chest freezer, I decided to try it out to grow my hamata and edwardsiana. Needless to say, the collection has grown in the past year. :)
H. minor var. pilosa making a comeback
I have a few packs of N. attenboroughii seed for trade.
Emails only (No Private Messages PM) to email@example.com
Here is a list of the species of Nepenthes I currently don't grow. Obviously they are pretty tuff to come by but all reasonable trade offers will be considered...
Here are the earliest signs of germination of a batch of Heliamphora seed -- some of which were sown in either mid September or early October. The media, in each case, was 2:3 Knudsen-C with 5.4 µM NAA (1 mg/L). Other species and varieties are soon to follow.
Once again: there's always room...
Just a few pics to share...
This pilosa was part of the Wistuba order that was held up in customs. It wasn't doing well but now has a new pitcher with a couple of green nubs emerging so hopefully it will be OK. If you close one eye and squint really hard, you might be able to see the green...
not up to date 9/16/2013
Spatulata x Capensis
Nitudula x Pulchella
Hamata clone #1
Spat x Hamata
Burbidgea x edwardsiana...
New arrival :boogie:
A little etiolated, but 3 adult pitchers (1 broken almost in two, the darker one in the background), one immature pitcher and a nice looking root.
Should recover nicely, I am pleased.....
Thanks for looking and please post your own "fuzzy sock" pics

I set up a simple table with most all Nepenthes species broken into the five common categories; ultra-lowland, lowland, intermediate, highland, and ultra-highland. I have based the placement on altitudinal distribution mostly. I also have temperature range at the top of each category.
I finally have the room and environment to try and grow just about every species of Nepenthes.
If you have any extra of any of the following please let me know. Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
