So I'm new to carnivorous plants and I have this 24" by 12" by 12" terrarium, a few different kinds of sundew seed packets, a reverse osmosis machine, and some gibberellic acid. I want to make a "forest" of sundews, like a thick tangle of several different species of them. The tank would be warm...
Hi I own a n.miranda and it's not clear how to take care of it. I did some reasearch and I would like you to correct me if needed .
It's placed under 1 t5 tube. The ambient humidity is 65-70%. The temperature is constantly of 24 (75F) degrees. I have a fan set on moving cycle. I will water it...
I've got several sarracenias and a pot of 5 VFT typicals that are starting to die off. I recently moved approximately 10 miles within Colorado. The plants seemed to be doing fine before the move, but since they have started producing smaller and smaller pitchers and traps, and a few have died...
Thank you to everyone for all of your kind replies and help on my previous posts . I greatly appreciate it! I do have some more questions that I know will seem super basic, so I am grateful for taking the time to help this newbie! Previous post...
Tired of trying and failing to keep venus flytraps growing under lights year-round? Sick of dormancy and want to keep your little monsters out even in December? May I suggest this new and only specimen of this cultivar, Dionaea muscipula ‘Amigurumi’. This will be shipped bare-root (not potted...
Didn't find anything in the Carnivorous Plant Articles section about Reverse Osmosis units nor anything with a quick search, so I thought I'd ask.
As I prepare to install a plant rack and more plants, maybe even a mini-bog outside, I find myself running low on water. A local Fred Meyer has one...
I am really considering springing for a reverse osmosis setup for my bog. I have had my bog for 3 years, but those have been long hot, dry summers in Oklahoma. For Oklahoma my bog is too large, 10 x 16 but I love it and have struggled to water it thru the years. I just did a search here and have...
I'm not planning on getting one any time soon, but I do want to learn a little bit about them. In the long run, I'm sure any RO system would easily be more cost effective than weekly CVS trips for gallons of distilled, but I don't get what exactly differentiates one system from another.I've seen...
What may seem obvious to experienced growers may be of some benefit to those just starting out . . .
I have found over the years that the utilization of live sphagnum, whether as a component in composts or simply as a top-dressing, offers several benefits to carnivorous plants, one of the...

Began this care sheet to help new growers grow these plants in the easiest way possible.I recently purchased some dionaea through mail order and thought I might post some helpful growing advice on these plants for new...
Hi Everyone,
I just ran a test of my water and these are the results.
Tap Water: 153 PPM
Chlorine Free Water from RO unit: 134 PPM
Reverse Osmosis Water from RO unit: 20 PPM
Rain Water: 11 PPM
My questions for the forum is? With these results is it ok to use Chlorine Free water for my CPs or...
Hi Everyone,
Due to the lack of rain, I've hooked up my Reverse Osmosis Unit.
I want to check the quality of water that it is putting out and was going to purchase a water tester that measures ppm.
Does anyone have any recommendations as far as what type of water testers are the best?
Thank...
I decided to start getting water out of a machine because it's half the price of distilled from walmart (only 35 cents). The machine says the water goes through 20 steps which include carbon filtering, reverse osmosis, and water polishing. I'm not sure what water polishing means and I googled it...
Hello everyone, today I wish to point out a problem I have ran into regarding reverse osmosis systems and or membranes. As most of you know, I have been using AND recommending www.wattspremier.com for years for their RO systems, filters, membranes etc. Today I wish to point out that they are...
my r/o unit pre filters have clogged up twice in the last 6 months.
I was wondering what you all use for pre filters.
I have been using 50 micron then carbon filter ? micron then 1 micron.
this is the setup the guy I bought the system uses, but it doesn't seem to work well.
thanks,

I have three venus flytraps that I'm growing in pots in a terranium (in pots so I can put them outdoors for sunlight). Anyway... I understand they are particular about the water they receive, and that hard water is bad. I've also read that distilled water should be used since VFT do not like...
Hey guys! I don't have much of an idea of what kind of reverse osmosis system would work for my CPs, so I am hoping that you all can help me out. Will this http://www.kentmarine.com/waterfilters/fill-size-ro/full-size-his-ro.htm reverse osmosis system work? I can get one for around $60. If not...
I have a r/o system that is upgraded with 150gpd filter and a permeate pump.
Should I have a 90% shutoff valve and a inline check valve?
If so could someone pm me a cheap source for them?
Also how important is a DI filter?
Thanks,
Zero
