I have some General Hydroponics Subculture that was given to me to try on my CP's. Has anyone tried this before? It has extremly low nutrients 0.1, 0.04, 0.02. Also has microorganisms that colonize the plants roots. It would have to be applied to the soil. Just looking to get peoples opinions?
Hello Friends,
Well, due to some requests from fellow Heli-addicts, I've decided to write an article on how I grow Heliamphora indoors year-round.
Here's a list of the Heliamphora I'm successfully growing at present;
H. nutans
H. ionasii
H. sarraceniodes
H. hispida
H. minor x H. heterodoxa...
Here is my set-up for an automatic watering system for my Nepenthes. This system allows me to go on vacation and abandon my plants! The main drawback is the unsightly nature of all the tubes. I elevated the plants just above the water line by using a grid which is sold as a cover for...
Yes. Clay. I love this stuff. I have noticed that in pots where I use 50% arcillite, 25% LFS, and 25% bark & charcoal as the medium, with a 1/4th inch top dressing of Sphagnum, I can have near-instantaneous drainage , however, it has been my experience that it does not dry out any faster than...
Orchid growers are starting to use passive hydroponics. It's my understanding that all orchid growers do is use a pot with drainage holes about one inch up the side instead of on the bottom. They fill it with ceramic pebbles and water so that there's a reservoir in the bottom. I would have...
Alright here it is 2 months later :
(1 week old pic before the tetras and the 2 more danios)
And since no one guessed what I used for a fertilizer what I used was a hydroponics nutrient that is 100% organic by PROGRO in a very very low doase it makes things grow very fast :jester:
Here is the...
ok I just got done reading the thread about rajah and it not liking to be repotted as it gets older. the thing is that the mixed with fir bark in them will break down in a year or two. As I use them with orchids and they need to be repotted because of the breakdown. I have been toying with...
I know that this is a shot in the dark, but I figure that it wouldn't hurt to see if I can get any leads here on TF.
A friend of mine and I are looking for someone. Consider this a "milk-carton-missing-person" ad.
I am looking for someone by the name of "Mary" (I am sorry, but I do not have a...
Hello,
As summer approaches, I am in need of a way to cool my new greenhouse. I've done some research, and, with the help of some (hopefully) experienced employees of a local hydroponics store, have already determined what method would be best; two fans, one on each side of my greenhouse; one...
I am setting up a lowland nepenthes terrerium and I am wondering if it is possible to grow a sphagnum "carpet" in lowland conditions. The plants will be in potts, but the pots will be sitting on those expanded clay things (forgot the name). Since they are used in hydroponics and hold small...
Well I was going to buy one but I did not want to spend so much money on the pricey kits so I made a simple deep water culture hydro setup for lettuce:
This pic is 3 days old since then I raised the buck right up to the 2 cool color cfls and the little guys are putting out roots everywhere :D I...
Hey Y'all,
I'm in the process of building a growshelf for some of my plants. I've been looking at the forums and I really like the wire shelves people are using. I've kept aquariums for MANY years and knowing that the 4' bulbs for my 75 gallon are easier to find than the 3' bulbs for my 135...
I wnet to the south Florida fair this evening. They have a nice display on hydroponics. After a discussion with the host, I basically understood that basically they were running water with a liquid fertilizer setup. Now with the fertilizer that would suck.
But how would a non fertilizer setup...
Any thoughts on the use of coco quire(sp) the stuff made out of coconut husk. It looks a lot like peat. I purchased some for starting some orchid deflaskings. I have transfered one regular into it for testing. Its suposed to hold lots of water. I know it can have salt in it if the quality isnt...
Michigan has only one Sarracenia sp. that can survive our cold winters. I am considering using the following container (without the light fixture) to grow some that will have to be moved indoors in the winter. No doubt it will contain some other cps too.
It can easily be moved outside in...
I recently got into hydroponics and while i was at my local Hydroponics shop, i saw that they had a set up of orchids in hydroponics sytems. I have bought some Phalaenopsis as well as a hydropnics kits that can accomidate 6 fairly large plants such as the orchids i had bought. I was wondering...
Hi everyone

Has anyone used this stuff? A local hydroponics specialist gave me some to experiment with and I don’t know if there is anything I should look out for. I am planning on using it as a sphagnum substitute for growing D. anglica and rotundifolia, among other things.
Any words of wisdom will be...
Hello all,
Up until now, I've been using just a simple fish tank and fluorescent light setup that has served me well. I'd really like to take it to the next level, and create a bigger chamber capable of growing more plants. My local Hydroponics place is running a special on this. I was...
My new venture for this year is orchids. Started with a kmart rescue a couple of months ago and now have 6--oppps, off topic LOL
Anyhow, in researching care, I came across S/H growing for orchids (semi hydroponics). It made me think that a nepth may be a canidate for this type of growing since...
