Hydroponics and CPs

I wnet to the south Florida fair this evening. They have a nice display on hydroponics. After a discussion with the host, I basically understood that basically they were running water with a liquid fertilizer setup. Now with the fertilizer that would suck.

But how would a non fertilizer setup work with CPs. I am thinking that Nepenthes and similar basically exist in a sphagum moss setup. Would probably do okay in something hydroponic. The other CPs who knows, but that is why I am asking here.

Can CPs work with a hydroponic setup?

That is what I mean , hydroponics with no fertilizer. Could this be used with CPs?
