Helpful Venus Flytrap (Dionaea muscipula) Cultivation Advice for Beginners
Began this care sheet to help new growers grow these plants in the easiest way possible.I recently purchased some dionaea through mail order and thought I might post some helpful growing advice on these plants for new...
I have been having this problem with green mold growing on top of pots with standard CP peat/perlit mixes. :censor:
My question is: What product is good for killing and eradication with a simple surface application?
Obviously some sort of fungicide, by what type and what brands are...
I've read a lot on dormancy but the information I've read is kinda general. I've got other care info down pat for VFT's at this point, but this one is still a big hole for me, so I'd like to fill it.
I seem to really have two dormancy options. (I'm in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, 90 miles west of...
Hey, does anyone know where I can find neem oil or a sulphur based fungicide? and does anybody know any brand name products they have used with success???
Thanks!
At least here in Oregon it is :3
I spent a good hour or two yesterday going through my venus flytraps. I took out all the old and dead things, and found myself with quite a nice problem.
As i pulled them all apart and washed them off, i discovered that i now had a much larger amount of venus...
A few months ago I took a container bog class at the Atlanta Botanical Garden - namely because for a $30 class you get to around $60 worth of plants to take home.
Anyway, I asked the instructor about fungicide treatment for container bogs - which mine tend to be prone too this time of year as...
Hi! I'm really excited because I recently purchased a packet of Darlingtonia seeds - but I have NO idea what to do from there! I'm nervous and scared too...
(Me) :-D :0o: :-( :-O :boogie:  :help:    :-P :crap:
As you can see I'm going through a very...
Every time I plant seeds either on the windowsill or in a terrarium this evil grey fuzzy stuff always forms on the soil. Sometimes the seeds survive and germinate (capensis) and sometimes they don't (byblis). Would it kill the seeds to spray them with fungicide, or how should I get rid of the...
Does anyone have first-hand experience with a fungicide called GreenCure®??
http://www.greencure.net
Its active ingredient is potassium bicarbonate.
I’m curious on how our CP’s would react with it as an all-around organic fungicide.
I’m not a chemist so I don’t know about chemical<--->plant...
I am starting some plants for my garden in the peat pellet trays, and this strange mold or something started growing. I thought it dog hair at first, but it grew back when I pulled it off. I sprayed it with a sulfur based fungicide, but it didn't work. What should I do?
These are a few of the neps that are concerning me. They've seen sprayed with fungicide, repotted...can't figure out what it is. Do these leaf conditions look familiar to anyone?

There is also N bicalcarata #3 that is right next to...
I've read in at least a dozen post where a light dusting of fungicide is recomended for everything from putting dormant VFT rhyzomes in the fridge to a light sprinkle on peat/sphagnum to keep away "damp-off fungus" when trying to germinate seed. But none of the post specified a fungicide. Will...
Anyone ever have mushrooms grow up out of their LFS in their nep pots? They don't seem to be hurting anything that I can tell, but I still gave the pots a good spray with fungicide.
Hey, I did a search of insecticides and fungicides because I was going to buy some and I did find some brands at the store, but they either werent what I wanted or too much money.
When buying either one of them, what am I looking for in the ingredients? I remember one of them that was...
I can't take the credit for this one. A good friend of mine, (Charles Brewer) found this mutant growing in his collection. I thought it was pretty cool and with his permission I am sharing with you. The white you see on the plant is just a fungicide he applied to the plant.

This is my second winter for my two VFTs. I was doing some trimming of dead traps and leaves when i noticed tiny white insects on the soil. They don't seem to go near the plant, but there are quite a lot of them on both plants.
And in some crevices in the soil of each of the plants there is a...
Hi,
Five inch rooted cutting of N. x Masteriana arrived with blackened growing point. I snipped it off and put some fungicide.
Any other advice? What are the odds?
This is the third one I have ever ordered and the other two arrived with the growth point snapped off(never recovered for me)...
I have been trying to grow some D. Stolonifera seeds and have started to have a pretty significant issue with some fungus. I have a sulfur based fungicide which has not harmed my other seedlings, and I used some lightly on the pot.
Well, just a couple weeks later, and the fungus is back, and it...
Howdy folks,
I have a mature cephalotus that developed a white powdery fungus problem. I tried "Serenade Disease Control" which uses the QST 713 strain of Bacillus Subtilis as the active ingredient. Within a short period (2 or so days), the moss surrounding the plant had died, and my little...
Has anyone had any experience with black spot on VFTs? I have a few plants with it on them and just wondered if a fungicide will take care of it or is there a certain kind that is best to use for this? I am sure that it is black spot and read in a book that it affects apple trees and rose bushes...
