What we have here -- and soon to be in your hot little hands -- is Carnivorous Plants by Adrian Slack. It is the predecessor of Insect-Eating Plants and How To Grow Them and a true classic of the field. It is a first American, oversize hardback edition -- 22 cm x 27 cm (8.5” x 10.75”) -- in...
Hi all,
I recently received a shipment from a well known, much talked about source,
(using up a gift-card I received from my brother-in-law from Christmas's gone by).
Since there has been much complaint here on the forum about poor packing by certain distributors
along with other problems...
Greetings to all!
I've been lurking on here for a few weeks, and I finally decided to go public and get registered. I started researching CPs a few months ago. Since then, I have managed to amass a modest but growing collection of plants, the majority of which are Nepenthes. I've never had much...
I hardly ever make plans for anything but I do always mark my calendar for the MN Orchid Society show held at the end of January every year at the St. Paul Conservatory & botanical gardens.
I finally figured out how to post large pics that aren't also huge in file size, I've been doing it all...
I stopped in there today, while I was in town visiting family. I heard they had a CP display going on through Jan., so I had to see what they had. Wasn't too impressed, the Nepenthes looked pretty good, and most of the Sarracenia were in pretty good shape, considering the time of year. I saw...
Hi all,
Just trying to get the word out about the "Botanical Wonders" rhizomes at Lowes/ Home Depot. It is my understanding they are wild collected, seeing as how the company states they are "nursery grown". Trillium, trout lily's, maiden hair ferns, and many other woodland plants are being...
Hello Fellow CP'ers-
I love bicals and I would like to set up a terrarium in my living room so I can admire it easily and frequently (yes I do have a greenhouse which it will go into when it outgrows it).
We all agree, that the two most important factors in keeping these little beasties is...

Being one of the newer members/CP growers around, I thought it'd be a good idea to go to the New England Carnivorous Plant Societies' show up in Rhode Island at the RWP Botanical Center.
Overcame exhaustion from my brothers wedding Saturday night, and made the trip Sunday morning through the...
I have a Ventricosa from a Lowe's death cube (botanical wonders ID'd it for me).
It's out of the death cube, re-potted in equal parts peat, perlite, vermiculite, and orchid bark. It's currently in a large glass jar with saran wrap on the top with some holes in it, with a fan blowing over the...

Hello All,
Well in my opinion I must say that there's something suspicious about Mr. Lowrie's recent Byblis photos. The link to his publicly posted Forum photos can be found here;

Hey Guys
Last week before my tour of the campus, I got to visit UNC Charlotte's greenhouse and botanical gardens.
The bog gardens, Nepenthes, and orchids were all amazing.
The largest flytraps I've ever seen! (The picture doesn't even do it justice)
Inside:
I think...
I was able to visit the UC Berkeley Botanical Garden on June 21st and I saw their Amorphophallus titanum in flower, however I was too early and the flower hadnt opened yet.
Here is a link to the flowering, http://botanicalgarden.berkeley.edu/program/event_des/plant_hap/TrudyReturns.html

This is going to take knowledge of many types of plants, carnivorous and non-carnivorous alike. Today, the LACPS met at the Huntington Botanical Gardens, and we toured the wonderful facilities. I took a lot of pictures of very cool plants, unfortunately, I don't have ID on a lot of them.
I'd...
This is a spanking-new copy of Adrian Slack’s Insect Eaters: How to Grow and Feed Extraordinary Plants, a recent reissue of his long-out-of-print 1986 classic, Insect-Eating Plants and How to Grow Them, a title which still fetches over a hundred clams or more among collectors -- and has...
