    Aphids?

I've got what looks like aphid damage but I see no aphids. I battled with aphids two years ago and they were rather large and could not be missed. What I am seeing is small white specks, almost dustlike, over most of the damaged leaves. I can't tell whether this "dust" is moving or I'm staring...

    CP Irony

Found an aphid wandering across my new S. purpurea. Fed it to my D. capensis. Poetic justice which brought a wicked smile to my face >)

    My first flowering Sarr

I couldn't pass it up. I just couldn't. Having never owned a flowering Sarr, I knew as soon as I gazed upon that pot of rubras in a florist shop with TWO flowers high above it, that my wallet was going to be getting a little lighter. So excited was I as I climbed behind the wheel to head out...

    I'm stumped. Please help!

I'm sorry if this question has been asked before, but I've looked through about 20 pages of the forum and haven't found an answer yet. It is spring and my pitcher plan container bogs are coming out of dormancy quite nicely, with one disturbing exception - my s. leucophylla. For some reason...

Should I do something to prevent aphids?

I went out to the backyard this morning and noticed that aphids have rudely settled in, mainly on the rose bushes (without paying rent either!). They are hanging out on the newly formed rose buds, sucking and drinking to their health. There are a couple small rose bushes near my growing area...

    Anything I can change?

Well. I've been growing a VFT that I split up and moved to a bigger pot for maybe 3 years now. While its been alive and whatnot....it has not gotten much bigger during its stay with me(as in...the number of rhizomes). Simply renewing leaves. Anything that I could do to change that? I'm thinking...

I just found aphids all over my woolly sundews. I don't even know how they got in my terrarium. They seem to be attracted to Ordensis and Falconeri's mostly. I need help in getting reid of them. I have a classic terrarium set up, So what a good and safe way to kill off all the aphid with out...

    Regen of Tarnok

I have an S. leucophylla 'Tarnok' which had some major problems early this year. It came in with a bad aphid infestation, which went on into complete rhizome rot. There's nothing left above ground but a black husk, but I've checked the pot throughout the summer, and all of the underground roots...

    Pictures of CP pests wanted

I know what an aphid looks like, but not everybody does. Someone posted a few pictures, somewhere, but I can't remember who or where. Also, I wouldn't recognize spider mites or scale or fungus gnats if I saw one, although I found these picture: So if you all have decent CP pest pcitures...

    American equivalent of Provado

Whenever the topic of aphid killing / pesticides come up at CPUK, the European contingent are quick to recommend an effective and safe for plants product called Provado. So I asked Aidan if there was an American equivalent of this Provado and a research on his part yielded this link: Bayer...

    hello, new here

Hello, I'm new here and I've been into carnivorous plants since I first saw the. I have been growing sundews and VFT's for a couple years. I recently recieved a S. rubra from a friend of mine. The traps are growing but they seem to have creases and look curved like there is aphid damage. I have...

    Minor aphid infestation

When I was looking over the plants in my 20 gallon long terrarium yesterday, I found (to my absolute disgruntlement) what appeared to be many small, white aphids all over my D. adelae! They only seem to be on that particular plant, so I think it'll be very possible to nail this problem before it...

    Aphids , socaugh

Recently my neps expect for the hanging basket got a few aphids on them, nothing serious....yet. But I noticed this about 2 days ago and just ignored it, because i thought it was just some insect. After looking at GIS, I found out that they were aphids, I grow my cps outside, so I found the...

    The aphid dunk

So aphids mannaged to get into my apartment and attack my plants. Although they think my deadly nightshades are extra scrumptious, they also like my Sarracenia leucophylla x psittacina "Scarlet Belle". So I submerged the plant (in distilled water, of course). My question is, how long do I leave...

    Pest killing recipes

Hey guys, I was just thinking why don't we list our recipes for killing aphids and other bugs that attack our plants here. I'll go first. 1part coffee-1 tablespoon(I've read the caffeine will kill aphids and other pests) 1part dishwashing handsoap-1 tablespoon like ajax or palmolive(I've read...

    Aphid infestation

My indoor grow chamber seems to have an aphid infestation. It is hard on my smaller sundews, and they seem to be making a home of the Utrics, as well. One solution suggested to me a long time ago was to use pet flea collars. If I went this route, how many would I need to assure full coverage of...

    P. primuliflora issues

Just now I looked over the fluorescent tank and noticed something different about my P. primuliflora. There's a weird... grayness happening in the center, over a tiny area at the base of all the top-layer leaves, and I saw a single, very tiny whitish insect crawl across part of it. Not an aphid...

    We're being invaded!

Hi guys! While feeding my plants this morning... I saw... Something terrible! Horrible green monsters have taken over my home and have taken two of my droseras hostage!! *creepy music* Yes, you guessed it, sounds like an aphid infestation. Small green and some black insects clinging to soft...

    Plants from the dawnstar collection

As some may know, I have been dealing with an aphid infection in my collection. I have recently sent out a good number of plants, but I can't remember if I mentioned the problem to everyone I mailed to, so I am mentioning it here. I grow all my plants outdoors au naturale, so this is always a...
