No editing, only white balance was changed (I know the last picture isnt the moon but it was in the spirit of the moon)

Same for my part of NC. I kept going outside and looking but saw some semi-glowing clouds. It was a real bummer.

Thanks all for the great pictures!

May 5, 2012 the full moon will be at its closest approach to the Earth in 2012. The full moon will appear up to 14% larger and 30% brighter than at other times. Moonrise begins at 22:59 ET and perigee will be at 23:34 ET. All you lunatics get those tripods out an let's see some shots.

So I went out at 11pm last night (Moonrise begins at 22:59 ET) to watch the moon rise over the horizon, here in the Eastern Time Zone, and was surprised to find it already high in the sky..that's because it rose over 3 hours earlier! ;)

It rose approx 19:45 ET (7:45 pm) not 23:00..(ET does mean Eastern Time doesn't it? or is ET something else?) And where did you find 22:59? I googled it, and the only reference to that time google can find is..this thread! ;) The moon technically reached "full moon status" at 11:35 PM Eastern time..but that was several hours after it rose..I did see a few references on-line where news stories confused that "full moon time" with "moon rise time"..which are not the same thing..I saw some news stories that said the moon would rise at 11:35PM eastern time..which was wrong..

Perigee was from the article linked above. Moonrise was from a local article to which I erroneously added 3 hours - duh that's why we have time zones. Perigee time should have been correct since it is not dependent on the Earth's rotation. Exact minute of moonrise/sunrise will depend on your longitude at the moment (dependent on earth's rotation and orbital movement/position of the moon). I should have said to check you local almanac for exact moonrise time but didn't. My bad.

Awesome shots folks. All the recent lunar events have been cancelled due to weather or surrounding environment :(

Devon & AV: those are great!

Everyone's else's pics: those are great too!

I was out and saw it, but I've packed my tripod already so it wouldn't be worth it with my shaky hands...
