success w/ pygmy Drosera leaf cuttings

Hello everyone,
I found an unanswered link from a while back asking if you could take cuttings from pygmy Drosera. I accidentally uprooted (and damaged the root of) an unknown Nitidula hybrid pygmy sundew. I decided instead of throwing the plant away, I'd try and experiment with leaf cuttings. I pulled off the stem along w/ the leaf (pulling off part of the cambium). After about 1 and 1/2 weeks I had 3 of my cuttings strike on the part that I pulled off of the stem. It popped up its first leaf yesterday. I thought I'd post a pic here:

Anyway, I just thought I'd let everyone know that it CAN be done.

in my experience this pygmy is one of the easy growers....looks like you have a lake badgerup by the way. i wonder how is going to addapt when you're going to transfer it from the water to the pot....i think you will have no problem with that since this is not a pygmy with sensitive roots.
this gives me an idea....why wait for gemmae if you need more plants?!....i just hate seeds.

Great job with the tedium of a pigmy sundew!

Mark, for plants I start out in water I have in a container with media and overfilled with water. I keep the water level high until they strike. Then I let the water level naturally go down through evapoartion and allow the sprouts to nestle into the media.

I didn't even know you were even able to do leaf cuttings on them. Congrats on the new plantets!

Thanks for that info, Aaron. It's not unknown for CPs to go belly up for unknown reasons and it's good to know that this will work on pygmy dews. Especially on new acquisitions where you only have a couple of plants to begin with.
