Ah! My absolute favorite of all the jewel orchids. Had one years ago but, alas, lost it. Will have to try one again some day if I can get an inexpensive one with which to experiment.

Now I just need to find Macodes sanderiana...and a few bunch more then maybe I'll be happy.

This isn't a plant I grow personally but it was growing in a tree nook at the botanical gardens near me. This is Cyrtopodium punctatum, one of Florida's native and endangered orchid species

Ended up buying this little guy the other day. Two blooms and two buds with another growth almost ready to bloom. Paph Berenice

Den. christyanum. The flowers have a sweet smell, reminds me of hand lotion

NOID Phal, rescued from the discount rack at Lowe's a few years ago.

Angraecum didieri. The tips of the sepals and petals are brown, probably due to a few bouts of low humidity while the flower was developing. But it still fills the living room with a spicy fragrance at night.

Leptotes bicolor

I'm planning on looking for those last two haha, how do you grow the didieri?

how do you grow the didieri?

Mounted, hanging near the lights/window, with a lot of Spanish moss hanging around the roots. I give it a good soak 2-3 times a week with plenty of misting in between. Humidity varies from 20% on the driest winter days to 70% in the summer but usually hangs out around 50%. Temps range from 58-60F (night) to 70-73 (day) in the winter and 68-75 (night) to 80-88 (day) in the summer. I'm a windowsill grower, so this all depends on what Mother Nature throws my way. It blooms reliably every spring and summer. But if the humidity drops while the bud is developing, the flower ends up with brown edges.

Thanks for the info, this will be in my windowsill too, what direction is your window facing?

Sophronitis Purpurata - about to bloom for the first time in 3 years. Said to have a wonderful fragrance, I am sooo excited !

The bloom's 2" sepal to sepal, right on the nose. At first I thought it was the tetraspis C#1 because the buds look exactly the same shape, but then that colour! :laaa:

Unfortunately, I've since realized this mystery orchid was a Calopogon pallidus that was being held upside down haha

Some nice posies you have there! Considering you can grow many chids outside, you should get yourself a Dendrobium spectabile. :)

Yeah, that one chid is definitely not an Ionopsis
