SHOW US YOUR ORCHIDS/FLOWERS!

Got this with no flower stalk about 8 months ago, maybe more. It was my first orchid, and It instantly started putting out new leaves upon me replanting it. The first flower finally popped yesterday! I'm not too attracted to most phals, but im happy with the way this one turned out (and it was free)

It might not be a phalenopsis, I once had a similar orchid and the nursery said that it was a kind of pseudo phalenopsis and that was why it was so small.

well if anyone can ID... im 90% sure its from trader joes if that helps =]

unfortunately, youur orchid is now and forever shall be a NoID. There are simply too many lookalike hybrids in existence for a reliable ID. If you knew for certain from whom you purchased it, you might be able to contact their source who, in turn, might know which hybrids they are carrying. However, many of the orchid "factories" which supply the BBS and groceries don't worry about keeping accurate tags on the plants as the majority of their clientele wouldn't care. (Not unlike the commonly seen misnaming of pitcher plants see at BBSs.)

Cystorchis variegata Green

Some lovely jewel orchids you have there. Had a gorgeous Macodes petola (the most beautiful of the jewels, IMO) some years back. Did well for a time then crashed. Not completely sure as to why. That particular species does have a rep for being a bit of a prima donna.

Don't have any of those species you've show. Will have to remedy that at some point. :)

Haha, I'm actually trying to look for a reliable online source that ships with CITES and Phyto, but so far no luck. The Japanese hobbyists on instagram are poisoning me quite badly with their collections and everytime I look up a species I get the "I want more" sensation.

I think I posted a close-up of this one a few months back. In any case, L. calodictyon is growing like a weed. I'm afraid that when the time comes to divide it, I'll have no choice but to break the glass.

Awesome L.cal! I have a wee one in my terr though it is struggling. (Suspect it is not staying moist enough.). You can always send a "chunk" my way. :-D

So many pretty orchids on this thread!!
The Lepanthes looks amazing! About how much light (or lack there of) do you give it?

Ha! I'm not quite ready to divide this beast... when you get a little thing with two or three leaves in the mail and it grows into a specimen it's so hard to divide it, you know?

It depends on where on the grow rack I hang it. This plant gets moved around quite a bit as I make room for other things. It has had very little light in a shady corner of the rack and bright light hanging about 1 foot from the lights with some dappled sunlight in the evening. It seems to like it brighter; I notice that it puts out a lot more growth then.
