Do you have any available divisions of that Filiformis Filiformis 'FL giant' (on the first page) for trade? I do have some 'Dreamsicles' if you are interested...

  • #263
No, I do not. And the list of things I can/would trade for currently is really slim, for a variety of reasons (financial, spatial limits, targeted collecting etc.)

Glorious, glorious stickiness...that may or may not be prepping to go dormant now
D. falconeri by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
A regular cape
D. capensis "typical" by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
A chunky cape
D. capensis "wide leaf" by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
And a big flower off a plant that is in the red leaf pot but I'm pretty sure is a wayward typical
D. capensis by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
New tuberous things!
D. macrantha by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
D. indumenta by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
Crappy pics though, I know...will eventually get better ones once they really settle and grow

Hoping a repot brings this back around
D. aff. lanata "Flying Fox Creek" by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
Meanwhile, this one sent up a short, funky flower stalk after its minor soil swap
D. falconeri by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
Barely had this for any time, but kind of wish I could put this into the POTM contest instead...
D. ramellosa "pink flower" by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
D. ramellosa "pink flower" by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
Pink isn't really showing through though...even when in bud. It used to have pink...
D. ramellosa "pink flower" by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr

Finally getting flowers off of this locality (though the clarity proves I need a new camera; just need to sell a few more plants to afford one luckily), and I've gotten word that this location might actually be a true peltata form rather than hookeri or gunniana
D. gunniana? Northland, NZ by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
D. gunniana? Northland, NZ by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
New arrival, there were two bulbs in here and the other one has reawakened as well.
D. kenneallyi by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
A monstrous mess of one of my crosses; I actually got rid of half of them when repotting and the pot is still full
D. brevifolia x tokaiensis by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr

About to have some very exciting flowers:
D. graomogolensis by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
D. ultramafica by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
Also working with a new camera for some photo settings (though I'll probably be using it for long-distance shots and video more)
D. adelae by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
One new flower already here
D. indumenta by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
And I can finally compare my kaieteurs:
D. kaieteurensis by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr

Temperates waking up...
D. x hybrida "Florida" by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
New arrivals that are settling in the highland house nicely now...
D. esmeraldae "Cerro Duida, Veneuela" by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
And a very special flower!
D. ultramafica by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
The stalk isn't huge (bloom number-wise at least; compared to the plant it's pretty large), but it's a promise I might have some very special seeds soon!
D. ultramafica by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
And of course because I had multiple flowers I crossed the first one with this:
D. spatulata 'Tamlin' by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
We shall hopefully soon have true hybrids to compare with the likely pure spatulata that has been making rounds for so long
D. spatulata 'Tamlin' by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
Another new arrival that I've been waiting on the flowers from...it's close, but hasn't opened any yet.
D. capillaris Ilha do Cardoso, SP, Brazil by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
And the single flower I got off this plant. Had a few seeds, sowed them immediately.
D. trinervia flower by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
With any luck I'll be able to pair at least one capillaris bloom (either that Brazilian one or the Hal Scott form) with this:
D. tracyi "white flower" by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
D. x hybrida "New Jersey" by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
Result of D. prolifera being exposed to winter sun for several months: it becomes red
D. prolifera by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
Alongside the Sarracenia, D. dichotoma wanted to wake up too
D. dichotoma by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
Another new arrival
D. tomentosa var. tomentosa by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
And for the third year in a row: I have seed pods on glanduligera
D. glanduligera by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr

D. spatulata "Fraser Island" by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
Or just brand new things in bloom
D. x hybrida "New Jersey" by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
D. x hybrida "New Jersey" by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
Have had the hardest time finding the original pink form, in either plants or seeds....but the new arrival is finally a nice replacement
D. filiformis floridana "pink flower" by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
This is a bloom I've been trying to catch for over a year now....and finally it's making seeds!
D. "spatulata" Denniston Plateau, NZ" by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr

D. spatulata "squat, pink flower" by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
D. intermedia "Roraima State, Brazil" x oblanceolata "Sunset Peak" by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr

Those blurple lights do really weird things to the composition sometimes...
D. serpens "Jacky Jacky" by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
Also the Petiolaris collection is growing...and almost everything is starting to look nice
D. aff.ordensis "Timber Creek" x ordensis "13 km west" by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
Another flower I've apparently never captured...this one I hopefully crossed with tracyi "AF"
D. capillaris "Hal Scott, FL" by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
ie. this thing:
D. tracyi AF by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
D. sp. Lantau Island x aliciae by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr

D. spatulata "Coromandel"? by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
And the plant on the left is what it came from
D. spatulata "Coromandel, NZ" by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
A group of sundews that I had long thought I'd never succeed with...but they appear to not care abotu whatever they experience at all:

Here's a new one, and a plant I hadn't realized I had until it decided to bloom: homemade D. "tokaiensis" var. hyugaensis:
D. rotundifolia "Nieuwkoop, Netherlands" x spatulata "white flower" by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
D. rotundifolia "Nieuwkoop, Netherlands" x spatulata "white flower" by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
Not homemade but one of my favorite hybrids
D. x "Southern Cross" by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
And a couple really rare plants starting to establish for me
D. elongata 1700 m Kundelungu Plateau DRC by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
D. katangensis Kibara Plateau DRC by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr

One of those times neocaledonica decides to not only look good, but actually put a little size on...too much to hope for another flower finally?
D. neocaledonica by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr

Also caught the first of two blooms on this open...pretty sure I've missed the 2nd
D. arenicola "Akopan Tepui" by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
D. arenicola "Akopan Tepui" by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
New arrival, actual Caribbean carnivores are such a pain to acquire it seems...
D. capillaris "Cuba" by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
Also might finally be getting a cross or two done with this:
D. intermedia AF by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
Including having used some stored tracyi AF pollen
D. intermedia AF by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
And the tuberous plants are waking up...indumenta and macrantha survived and are behind this one, lowriei also lived (for once, I've kept a rosetted species alive through dormancy! Damn good thing too considering how much it cost...)
D. menziesii by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
Added another of the peltata complex to the collection too; still have a few to find though (actual peltata, salina, zigzagia because I lost it once...)
D. lunata "Castlereagh, NSW" by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr

I don't generally put references about pictures below the pictures unless it's a continuation of a reference started above, they tag the photos below them. The comment wasn't about brevifolia; the plant that was in question, the issue's already been answered by the other plant in the pot flowering.
And the esmeraldae is not capillaris. Supposedly they may not fit the type esmeraldae description, but if not within that species they're a different undescribed taxon altogether (as per D. esmeraldae ´Cerro Duida´ in flower)

Added a new spatulata form to the repertoire...
D. spatulata "property of friend of Lowrie, Beerwah, Au" by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr

And this, the result of growing prolifera in a spot exposed to direct sun part of the day
D. prolifera by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
And: I FINALLY kept a rosetted tuberous sundew alive through a dormant season! Good thing too as it was the most costly one I got...
D. lowriei by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
Even better, it's been flowering for over a week now!
D. lowriei by Hawken Carlton, on Flickr
Also adding Cuban capillaris seeds to my stores now.
