QUESTION!!

I think the addition of the rule adds the ability to participate and scroll between multiple auctions in the last moments. Example being instead of having to pick one auction to snipe at the last second, I could bid in the last 2 mins and have the bidding extended and go to another auctions I’m interested in do my bidding and still have a time frame to come back. Rather it truly comes to who won the auction than who calculated their bid to be the highest at the last second. I thought the rule did well especially in the Nepenthes Macrophylla listing. I watched the price continue to climb after the other auctions I was in finished. (Apologies for this being lengthy but I figure mods and admin would like a detailed explanation from a participant standpoint.) There was a bid in the last 2 minutes of the auction I took part in. I didn’t refresh my monitor until after the auction was scheduled to end at 8:00:00 EST and saw the bid, so I wasn’t sure based off as listed before the “moment ago” caption being on the comments but I continued to bid in case it was a valid bid. If anything I’d think of this as a way to increase earnings for the charity along with not leaving people feeling like they lost out on an auction they were willing to go deeper in on. This is one of my critiques of Ebay auctions because almost always they get scalped at the literal last second. Thanks for your time and commitment into making sure this forum runs good! Especially thanks to FlyTrapShop for continuing this forum and letting us use it!
Thanks for your input! We appreciate your participation on the auction.

You can hover the "a moment, 1 min, 2 min" statements to get a time, but it still doesn't zero in to seconds. Also, there is no visible clock of server time, so trying to get a bid in on the seconds is likely not going to work out.

This is my curser over the "a moment ago" of this post. I'm unaware of a way to do it on mobile though. I always suggest a computer for auction endings for many reasons.

Good to know. Didn't realize this.

That was my feeling as well.

I felt it was fairly easy for one, or a few, bidders to get confused as to whether the bid counted or not. In which case it would be fairly easy for the bidding process to go something like:

Bidder A: "$20"
Bidder B: "$25"
Bidder A: "I don't think Bidder B's bid was in time, but if it was then I bid $30"
Bidder B: "I think my bid was on time, but I don't think Bidder A's bid was on time, but if it was then I bid $35"

Leaving it up to the "judges" to sort out later. Which if that's the intended solution, should work out fine in the end. But in the moment felt a little uncertain.
Do you think allowing more time in between bids would help. Maybe 3 minutes instead of 2?
I think you want enough time to allow extra bids to come through, but not so much time that those watching have other obligations they need to go deal with. With that in mind, I think 5+ min is too long. But not sure if there is a material difference between 2 min and 3 min.

I liked it, and think a 3 minute extension would be better. I had bids in on multiple items. As the time wore down I let go of those I had less interest in as I was outbid. That left me with two items I really wanted and one I had bid on for fun. I kept multiple windows open, one for each item and refreshed them about every five seconds. I knew my limits for each item as well as the total I was willing to spend, including shipping. I managed to win all three items, but if one went past my max I would have let it go and kept that money in reserve for the other two.
I liked this format because it kept me from second guessing about snipers.
