The 2 minute rule? Enjoyed it! I believe it makes it fair to all buyers no matter how fast your wifi is!HOW DID YOU GUYS LIKE THE NEW FEATURE?
I didn't notice any issues with the forums. I increase server resources annually for this to make sure it can account for the extra load of this event. Is there something specifically you noticed not working well?I don't think I was outbid during the 2 minute mayhem window, but it seems a little overly complicated. Sure, I understand how it works, but there's something to be said for a "hard stop" time. Much simpler, don't have to "hang on". And for those of us with marginal phone skills, and/or a clunky Terraforums experience, a hard stop is preferred. I hope more $ was raised though because of it.
Ok, thanks for the clarification! No, not related to the server at all. Probably my phone and my skills, or lack thereof, in navigating the forum efficiently. Seems like I stumble around a lot, more so on my phone. Need to work on that!
Do you think allowing more time in between bids would help. Maybe 3 minutes instead of 2?I just "watched" the threads I was most interested in and shotgunned between them.
I also had time to thumbs up each new post in order to (hopefully) attract more attention to my auctions by reacting to it
Don't know if a server clock would have added value. It definitely had that same electricity in the air as always. I hope we can increase participation for the next one!
We did well, better than some years worse than others. How'd we do this year?
I wouldn't think 5min too long. It looked like the dust settled without any sniper bids -thoughts?Do you think allowing more time in between bids would help. Maybe 3 minutes instead of 2?
I am open to any suggestions. I want to get input to take back to the board for discussion.I wouldn't think 5min too long. It looked like the dust settled without any sniper bids -thoughts?
I think the addition of the rule adds the ability to participate and scroll between multiple auctions in the last moments. Example being instead of having to pick one auction to snipe at the last second, I could bid in the last 2 mins and have the bidding extended and go to another auctions I’m interested in do my bidding and still have a time frame to come back. Rather it truly comes to who won the auction than who calculated their bid to be the highest at the last second. I thought the rule did well especially in the Nepenthes Macrophylla listing. I watched the price continue to climb after the other auctions I was in finished. (Apologies for this being lengthy but I figure mods and admin would like a detailed explanation from a participant standpoint.) There was a bid in the last 2 minutes of the auction I took part in. I didn’t refresh my monitor until after the auction was scheduled to end at 8:00:00 EST and saw the bid, so I wasn’t sure based off as listed before the “moment ago” caption being on the comments but I continued to bid in case it was a valid bid. If anything I’d think of this as a way to increase earnings for the charity along with not leaving people feeling like they lost out on an auction they were willing to go deeper in on. This is one of my critiques of Ebay auctions because almost always they get scalped at the literal last second. Thanks for your time and commitment into making sure this forum runs good! Especially thanks to FlyTrapShop for continuing this forum and letting us use it!I am open to any suggestions. I want to get input to take back to the board for discussion.
