Heh... 90's

  • #21
I love this thread! Heck, I’m still a 90’s kid.
I remember watching “All That” and “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” on Nick. I loved “Lori Beth Thimburg(spelling?) With Vital Information for your Everyday Life” and also her role as the librarian that tried to keep everyone quiet at all times on “All That”.
I too collected pogs… I remember I had an awesome silver slammer that had skull and crossbones on it. In addition to pogs, I recall collecting X-Men cards.
I also remember buying stink bombs from the ice cream man and playing hide-and-go-seek and “throw the bottle” every afternoon with the kids on my block. I also used to check out the “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark” books from my school’s library.

Oh the memories! I wish I could go back and relive that decade!

Anyone remember Aqua or the Spice Girls? Man I used to think they were sooooo cool lol
The Spice Girls reminds me of my first girlfriend in Junior High. She was one of those insane socialites that has to be friends with everyone and we last about two weeks, which at the time, was her longest running relationship since transferring to my school at the beginning of the school year. She also always wore this star on her face all the time... Man, she could have been the one that got away! lol.

secrets of the hidden temple or something like that?
Legends of the Hidden Temple was so awesome, as was Guts! When I was a kid I would've killed to go on those two shows.

how about trapper keepers and slap bracelets?
I won a slap bracelet from winning a limbo contest at the roller rink when I was in grade school. Actually I tied with my best friend, and we both are not very flexible or limber so I don't exactly know how we won...

xvart.

I don't recall much of the 90's for some reason :D

But MY generation had the REAL Star Wars, the REAL Transformers, the APEX of GI Joe and a LOT of really good Giant Robot (mecha if you prefer) cartoons from Japan

And He-Man...

But I suppose Speed Racer was on tv all the time in the 90's so it couldn't have been ALL bad :D

Lol, I remember speed racer from cartoon network.

Lol, I think I've got the techno remix to the theme song called "speedracer porn mix" or something around here somewhere lol

and remember when they still had the looney tunes on CN.

Cartoon Network? I remember before cartoon network. The only time you could watch cartoons was on Saturday morning. Would you believe that some looney tunes were edited to cut out material that was inappropriate. I remember seeing the unedited versions.

Things I remember about the 90's? Skateboarding went from basic, to super-tech back to basic. From baggy pants to super baggy pants back to regular baggy pants and went from being not-cool-at-all to on the freakin' X-games.
Grunge music (I only like Sonic Youth) and the decline of hip-hop.
Raves golden years (NASA, Primary parties)
Ad-hoc MK II tournements everytime you went to play it at any arcade
(if you know what putting your quater up means, then you know)
And that's when Savage Garden came out. Like 98' wasn't it?

Ozzy, I have an ol' Looney Tunes tape with the WW II episodes.... woah, rascist & violent stuff!

Well one looney tunes that I can remember being cut was the one where the bird tricks the elephant to sit on it's nest. then the bird skips town and the elephant won't get off the nest because it refuses to break it's promise to the bird. They are taking the elephant , tree nest and all across the ocean and a fish comes up to the surface and see the elephant on the nest and say "Now I've seen everything" and he pulls out a gun and shoots himself in the head.

I also remember pepe le phew or how ever you spell it, talking about sex and even says some curse words like damn.

Seen alotta suicide stuff on the ol Looney Tunes too... the rascist stuff I mentioned was the way they made fun of the Japanese. Germans they ripped too, but nothing like the Japanese. This was during WW II and the Japanese with them pulling stuff like sucker punches and treating prisoners extremely inhumanely so go figure the cartoonists would rip em apart!
