I don't know what your hitchiker is but at least it's pretty! That bog garden is just incredible!! Where on earth do you get enough water to keep it

Mach identified the hitchiker as Mimulus. I am fortunate my town has good water, ppm stays below 60 most of the year, so I use the hose.

Wow, DJ, you weren't kidding, that thing is huge! The best thing about it is there's still plenty of room for new arrivals.


p.s., I know you can grow tropicals in that behemoth, but don't go sticking that chaniana x veitchii in there!

I told you DH got a little carried away digging it.

Haha, the neps do just fine in the window and I like them right where they are. I will get some pics of them and post. Hard to get a good pic in the window, so I will wait for a decent weather day and take them outside for a photo session.

Wow - that is the supercluster of capensis plants. I didn't know they would grow that densely. The filiformis plants look great. One of my all-time favorite species and you've done them so right, DJ.

Thank you for the kind words. The capes do clump up if you neglect them and let the seeds fall where they may. That is a several-year-old clump I just cannot bring myself to divide up. With the filiformis jungle, insects have to run the gauntlet from the ponds to the house...very few make it

Almost murdered this guy cutting back some weeds with a weed wacker. I have lots of garder snakes, but never saw one this color before. It was like 18" or so long.

Beautiful plants, I see your jonesii is doing a lot better than mine (it shrunk to seedling size for unknown reasons). Do you know what species of garter snake it is?

My jonesii almost doubled in size from when I got it last year. I don't know what kind of garder snake that orange stripe one is, only see this type that varies in color from black with no stripe to shades of brown/black with yellow stripe. They are all over the yard right now, just becoming active after winter I guess.

Have to sneak up on the snakes to get close-ups, haha, but easier to get closer at this time of year because I think they have other things on their mind being spring and all. Sometimes I can be sitting out there and they will crawl over my feet following each other around. I think all the baby tree frogs from the ponds attract them to my yard.
