Brie's CP photo thread

Lovely as always!
May I ask what temp and humidity you are growing these at?
Also how close to the lights and what photoperiod?

Hope you dont mind all the questions, it's just that I am struggling with my Drosera, and any info would be a great help :)

Well, most of what is pictured here is growing under a combo of 4 T8s and 2 T5 HOs, with a combo of 3000k and 6500k bulbs. They're about 14-18" from the lights.. Temp and humidity im not too sure about. Room humidity, although local humidity down by the plant is prolly higher. Temp fluxuates and depends mostly on how hot my apartment/the room is.. But i'd say low to mid 80s during the day, and falls to high 50s, low 60s at night because I keep the window cracked(where the tuberous dews live). Your choice of media and watering also can be a big factor in how happy your plants are..

Thanks for the info, I have been struggling recently.
It is strange as everyone has such different conditions and yet get good results from them...seemingly I have tried loads of different conditions and dont get the results!
If you have time please take a look at my thread here http://www.terraforums.com/forums/s...tion-to-those-who-grow-Drosera-under-lighting
Thanks :)

I agree with what others have said on your post.. Increase light and temp.. Moving the plants closer to the light source will also make them warmer, so really thats all you'd need to do... Everything looks healthy otherwise. Just need time to 'grow in'....

Edit: nm found where you said what type of lights.. Yeah just keep your plants within 12" of those and they should look better..

Thanks, so afterall it's probably best to move the lights further away?
Sorry dont mean to hijack your thread!
I think I will also replace one of the lamps with a 3000K one.

It all looks very nice. That is an amazing collection of D. capensis varieties. All in all tho' I think I like the cluster of graos the best.

How far away are your plants from the lights right now? And yeah offering a mix of spectrums is a good idea.. I do 50/50 with mine. half 3000k and half 6500k.

I do like my capensis LOL.. theres other localities id like to import sometime.. Maybe this spring.. And yes, those graomos are doing very well. ;)

Awesome collection of cape varieties! I love seeing your helodes, always a favorite. The tuberous seem to be coming along good, can't wait to see the progress of those. The pings, well, the pics speak for themselves, lol. I got to get a terrarium set up next year!

The general consensus was to get the plants very close to the lights, but that only seemed to make them worse. Currently they are about 12 inches away and I have also decreased the photo period, but it is too early to see any improvements yet.

with 4 T5s I wouldnt of put them right up against the bulbs or anything, esp suddenly. Just moving them up within 12" woulda been fine. So it was probably quite a shock to them if you put em super close.. Just give em time and they should recover..

Thanks. :) The pings are going dormant now... Witholding water and its doing the trick. Here's to hoping im able to pull em back out of it in the spring..
