Hi all,
A single (hybrid) nepenthes in my terrarium (out of dozens of plants) is showing these rust-like marks on all leaves. These marks started showing up a few weeks ago. None of the other plants sitting next to it are showing any such signs.
Do you know what could be the reason? And what...
So, I have a D. multifida 'extrema' plant that has never flowered for me. It's already survived one winter under lights, but I'm getting nervous only having one, so I want to start at least one cutting in a terrarium as a backup.
I'm curious as to the best way to do this. I know a few people...
Glad I found this forum. Been doing a lot of reading. Probably like some of you I didn't start out to have a terrarium. I have a 75 gallon aquarium that I am tired of the upkeep. Please tell me a terrarium is not as time consuming as an aquarium. Anyway my specific question now is can I use the...
And I'm not *entirely* sure what I'm doing, but I'm trying! I wanted plants in my room at work, but it has no windows. I ultimately decided on a terrarium with artificial lighting, and carnivorous plants because they always seemed really awesome.
10 gallon terrarium with some sort of tropical...
Any orchids that would do well in either pure sphagnum or sphagnum and orchid bark out there? Temps are about 70-80 during the day in the summer, 57-65 at night. In the winter it's 48-55 at night, and 65 during the day. Not sure about humidity, but there are several trays of moss in the...
I visited the Oregon Garden in Silverton, Oregon for the first time yesterday, expecting to find a number of different CPs. Here is what I was able to locate:
A small bog next to the children's garden in the "weird plants" section. The plants look quite new and not particularly healthy to...
This is part of my larger project to renovate my grow shelf once I move into my new apartment in a few weeks. I've been wanting to put together a highland terrarium for awhile now. With the Wistuba group order at flytrapcare forums coming up and me being worried about the few highland plants...
Hi all,
I had an idea to cool my terrarium: if I had a mister spray water into my tank, and a fan blew into it, the evaporating water would presumably lower temps and raise humidity. Does anyone have any good ideas for a cheap DIY mister? Thanks.

Hey folks. I'm very new around here. This is my first attempt at CP. I've made the classic hobbyist mistake that I've scolded so many fellow reefers for doing, which is buying livestock before you research. Luckily I didn't mess up too bad
I recently picked up a S. Purpurea, and a VFT from...
Hello there. This forum appears to be a great resource. I am COMPLETELY new to this hobby with zero experience with bog plants and carnivorous plants of any kind. I am, however, an avid hobbyist in the aquarium world for many years and seasoned forum user.
Wanted to drop by and say hello...
Hi all,
So my Drosera paradoxa is going into dormancy, and I don't have much experience with this. amphiron's crash course guide says to keep temperatures high but to let the soil dry out. However, I heat my terrarium by putting an aquarium heater in a jar of water; thus, humidity is always...
For all of you who were expecting an amazing display of horticultural wonders, I sincerely apologize. A few years ago, I took a trip to DC and only saw a single terrarium housing some light-starved Sarracenia and Dionaea. I returned recently, full of optimism, eager to see to what was hopefully...
Hey all, I have an indoor setup that i'm worried about drying out while on vacation for 10 days. I simply have pots/trays set in those large aluminum cooking pans. Im worried all of it will evaporate while im gone, since the water level drops noticeably after a couple days. I know a terrarium...
As requested here's a couple of pics of my setup for my lone Heliamphora, a heterodoxa x minor. I keep it outside to take advantage of the sun, and to keep it cool in our steamy summer temps I float it in a 180 gal aquarium I use as a water garden. Water temps generally run in the high 70s/low...
I would like to ask,
1. What plants do you grow?
2. What setup are they in (terrarium inside, outside au naturel, outside in greenhouse, etc.)?
3. Artificial lights or sun, and the amount of hours directly exposed to the sun and/or bulb(s)
4. Potting mix (rough estimate... 1:1 peat: perlite...
Hey everybody, I've been researching ways to cool smaller areas like grow tents and chambers. I've read about mini swamp coolers (which obviously wouldn't work) wine chillers, modified chest freezers, mini AC units which pipe the air into a tent/chamber, etc. and I haven't yet found something...
Honestly, when I first got this pitcher, it sat outdoors for 3 months perfectly fine and was making pitchers. I prob should've just let it be without throwing it in a terrarium.
This plant is growing super fast and I want to take it out without killing it.
How do i do this? This is a...
So I joined this forum over a year ago and never really participated much. However, I've learned alot from the great community here and am hoping to share the little knowledge I have and gain some more! I'm currently in college (Penn State) and spending the summer at my parents farm before...
I received some seedlings from the curator at the Huntington with permission to give them away to friends. It's a new species of Anthurium from Ecuador, Anthurium lappoanum, last sold on ebay for $46. It gets about 18"-24" tall and does well in a cooler environment, would probably be ok as a...

Hi Everyone,
I'm tired of freeloading off all you generous people so I'll take a turn & pitch in. I was digging around & found an extra can of sun that hadn't expired yet & thought what the hey I might as well share the love. I had an extra 10 seconds today & threw this together with a...
