I received this from a dear friend less than a week ago. I don't have much experience with pygmies so is it normal for the root to appear so long? I didn't see that with d.ericksoniae x pulchella...
Okay, last year when my nitidula x pygmea developed a second head I thought I had just missed the second one and it always had two. Last month, after developing gemmae, I noted that the two heads were separating.
Today I see that my oreopodion has a second head and is rapidly developing into a...

hello all,
i'm new to this list but am delighted to have found it. i'm a student at CSU Humboldt and was pointed here by the local CP enthusiasts.
i currently don't have a great deal to trade; i think the d. capensis narrow leaf alba seeds i posted have all been claimed at this point. i...
Hello everyone,
Here are some pics of a cheap experiment I made the past few days. I had a Exoterra Fogger, spare 5.5 gallon tank, and a nice fan at my disposal, so why not try something new?? I spent a few $ at Lowe's getting PVC pipe, metal brackets, and nylon screws, etc to make it all...
I could not find any gemmae of D.scorpiodes ( My favourite pygmy) last year so I ordered some adult plants this year from a vendor. They came looking healthy and well packaged however they seem to be dying on me. At the same time other pigmies I have grown from gemmae are doing great in the same...
Hello,
Hey, I bought 6 D. Dichrosepalas back in July, (I got 7 delivered to me, but now I have 4 after my cat pulled 3 out of their pot and swallowed them) but anyway ever since I opened their box and replanted them they've had no fresh leaves and they've been covered in white "hair". The ones...
Hello, I was just wondering if all pygmies that are hybridized with D. Nitidula have white flowers with those very pretty bright red beads? (I think they're called stigmas)? If not then which hybrids/pure species have white flowers red stigmas? Thanx for the information
Hi,
Just thought I'd share a picture of two abnormal flowers that came up in a pot of Drosera whittakeri. As well as having more than the normal number of petals (5) the flower on the right has extra stamens. Personally, I quite like the right-hand flower.
I don't know what has caused it. I...

Hello,
I recieved 7 D. dichrosepalas yesterday, they look kinda bad, how can I tell wheter they're dormant or just dead/dying? They have no leaves but but most of them are still very green.
Also I think I put too much sand in their soil mix and planted them in an undrained pot, should I change...
I just received some Drosera scorpioides from you in the mail, thank you so much.
Seeing as these are my first pygmies would you be willing to offer any cultural advice? Ive read most of whats available about this species but its always nice to hear from a grower, especially when there in the...
ARGH!!! WHEN THINGS ARE GOING GREAT WITH MY PYGMIES, AND WHEN THEY FINALLY FLOWER, ALL OF THE LABELS GET MIXED UP!!! I'll post pics soon so you can all help me re-identify them, lol. Good thing they're flowering!
what do u do wit the geammae you get from pygmy sundews or pings . when i get my gemmaes i plan on getting a large tray and fill it up with pet moss and spell out sundews on it so when the pygmies grow they will spell out sundews on the tray ( I GOT THE IDEA FROM THE SAVAGE GARDEN ) ,. there are...
Hi there,
Any experience this problem? When sowing the pygmies in a standard peat/sand mix, tiny mosses begin to grow on the soil, and begin to overwhelm the plants, and making the soil surface really harder to break through (for roots, plants growth, etc).
Any solution to this problem...
So what is the D. binata complex related to? I was under the impression that most of the Australian sundew species were either tuberous or pygmies and I was just wondering where D. binata fits in. I'm not expert in drosera and I'm not familliar with a lot of the more obscure species so if I'm...
Ok... As I understand it, Pygmy drosera like a sandy, peat based medium... I have never, ever once had luck with a peat based medium. I have a D. ericksonnii in Peat-Sand-Vermiculite mixture, quite rocky... It's alive, but barely hanging on. I tried a P. moranensis in a peat/sand medium, but it...
Okay so I am not recommending that everyone go out and do this with their pygmies but I figured that it is always good to share experiences so here we go.
For the Thanksgiving weekend I went down to FL. Anticipating a temperature drop I pulled in all but my Sarrs and VFTs. Well it turns out I...
Hi All,
I was wondering what range of drosera hybrids were in the hands of forum members? Ivan Snyder and a few other growers produce a few every year it seems so the number of hybrids out there is increasing. My list includes:
Drosera rotundifolia x anglica (CA x HI) "Ivan's paddle"*`
Drosera...
