This is a self set survivor of my original collection of Dactylorhiza maculata. It settled itself into a Hosta tub and hasn't looked back. The clone is now multi-headed and a bit of a favourite of MrsG.
Please forgive the size of the photo but I really thought it deserved it for the detail...
Hello,
The plants below grow in two different pots outside. One pot with Venus Fly taps sits in a tray of water. The other is a recirculating self watering pot (water changed every two weeks).
Plants are also treated with White shark and Ampac trichoderma mix with every water change. This...
Most Drosera can be easily and quickly propagated by leaf cutting, root cuttings, and flower scape cuttings. (A flower scape is just another words for the developing unfurling flower stalk as it emerges from your plant.) This will give you a mature plant faster than raising one from seed...
We had a huge hail and thunderstorm roll through last night with some pretty good-sized hail. Thankfully I got the vulnerable pots (freshly potted stuff) under cover before it hit, but the bog I can't exactly move out of the way, haha. Fortunately not that many sarrs have open pitchers yet, but...
Yes this question does get asked often. Local nursery owner informed me that there were changes on the Peat Moss extraction/distribution market and the brand I used to get is not currently available.
I tried several brands and generally found that whatever is sold in Lowes or HD (Premier or...
I suppose it's about time so I'll start with some recent pictures. Quite a few actually.
Plants waking up outdoors.
Some native Oregon sphagnum I'm growing with the outdoor plants, covered with netting to discourage those pesky birds.

CP Water Germination Experiment
Phase 1 tropical & subtropical species, mostly Drosera
No stratification
When I decided to restart my CP collection I had some seeds stored in my refrigerator for up to 17 years. Some were from the ICPS seedbank and some were from my old collection in the mid to...
Up for auction is 1 large seed grown D. 'Albino'! You don't see these very often, they are so very rare!! (yeah, right) This is likely you ONLY chance to get one! (well, and support the NASC at the same time at least) so bid generously to get your hands on it!
I will send it either potted...
I don't have a 3D printer and I am hoping to find someone that does. And furthermore hoping some one will be willing to make a few orchid pots for me. I am looking for small pots in the 2x2x2 inch range. Willing to trade plants in exchange. I figured it worth a shot.
Hey, everyone. I have questions about the Maxsea fertilizer. I had heard about it on this site. I know I hadn't see it at my local stores, so I went to my trusty amazon.com account and found a 1.5lb container of the 16-16-16 for $19.98 and free shipping. I don't know if that's a deal, but it...
Due to time constraints, I'm opening this item for bids in an unfinished state. However, I've tried to get it to a point to where you can clearly see what it will be like once finished. I will post update photos as it gets further along, but it will still take several days.
That being said...
1) Opening Bid of $2.
2) Utricularia humboldtii starter section, we will be removing and shipping one of those pots. Enough to get you going with this species if your conditions are good. I've had very good experiences growing humboldtii indoors on a windowsill, but have NEVER seen a flower...
For bid is a roughly one-half inch plug of Utricularia bisquamata 'Bettys' Bay'. This cultivar is the famous "tame" version of the species that does not invade other pots by producing unwanted seed and, in addition, it has larger flowers. Nice stuff. Sorry I don't have any photos but it is just...

I have various species of Sarracenia, vfts, dews, and pings growing under the same LED light. I am worried that the LED light does not have enough blue and white for vegetative growth. The plants are in a mini greenhouse outside with the plants and the lamp is about 25 inches above the top of...
So I decided to move my U. calycifida 'Asenath Waite' since it has been unhappy with the higher light levels since replacing the bulbs in my T5 fixture. I knew it had grown out into the water tray but I had no idea how much. I had to lift up 3 other pots to pull out this thick mat of bladders.
Hello from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USDA Zone 5B
My name is Mike and I'm returning to my love of growing C.P. after too many years of letting life get in the way. I've been growing for a year now after not growing for about 15 years. My favorites are the subtropical Drosera.
I'm rebuilding my...
Hello everyone. I was hoping you guys can help out with a few questions I have about my Nepenthes 'Lady Luck'. This is my first nepenthes. I ordered from a guy online, because the pitchers looked a really cool shade of red and this plant is supposed to do well indoors.
Amazon says I ordered it...
Hey all.
I have a venus fly trap that I recently repotted, I could tell that their was at least one or two divisions in there, but as it turned out, their were 4, maybe 5 divisions in there. I didn't have enough pots to plant all of the divisions. I managed to plant two in their own pots, but...
This weekend was SD's Orchid Society's big Spring Show weekend. Usually there'll be a Nep or two, maybe some good potting soil ingredients, and net-style pots available along with the distractingly pretty flowers so it's always worth a look. It was two rooms - the first one you walk through is...
