Hi All!
In late September I'm flying into Eugene, OR for a family vacation that will include a trip down to see the Red Woods. I'd love to see some Darlingtonia and Pinguicula macroceras sites while I'm out there, but it's been quite a while so I'm not sure where the best places to go are...
Some of us (myself included) love to go out into the wetlands and see carnivorous plants in their natural habitat. Some are found everywhere (Drosera capillaris) but others are quite rare.
Is there a rare one that you look for?
Personally, I've been going nature hiking for 15 years and I'm...
Last year I took a trip to the northern portion of Michigan and the southern portion of Upper Peninsula. On the trip I encountered various carnivorous plants and orchids.
Emmet County (Day 1):
The first site was quite unique compared to similar sites I have been to. All of these plants...
I spent this weekend visiting different CP sites throughout New England. The first stop was a failed attempt to see Pinguicula vulgaris in New Hampshire with Natch. The site is at the top of a large talus slope. We were able to get about 3/4 of the way up but then got stuck at a thick treeline...
I'm sure there are people on here who have experience self-pollinating Pinguicula. I have a P. cyclosecta that is putting up a flower, and I am wondering how different the F1 plants in a self-cross look from the parents, typically. Thanks for the info, the threads on Pinguicula pollination have...
So I joined this forum over a year ago and never really participated much. However, I've learned alot from the great community here and am hoping to share the little knowledge I have and gain some more! I'm currently in college (Penn State) and spending the summer at my parents farm before...
Pinguicula gigantea leaf pulls. The green ones on the left. Few months old now. The one up front is the largest, and the one the winner will receive. This clone has been vigorous in my conditions.
Pinguicula 'Aphrodite' mature division. Flowers for me in late fall and early spring. Does...
I've got some tubers of D.menziesii and D.modesta available for trade. These are not fresh imports and are fully acclimated to the Northern Hemisphere. Looking for Drosera, Utricularia, Pinguicula, Cephalotus, Nepenthes (HL only), Heliamphora and Genlisea that are not on my growlist. No hybrids...
I have a Pinguicula Planifolia that has suddenly developed an issue where the tips of its leaves are drying out. It still produces mucous elsewhere and has growth from the center of the plant. I grow this plant in a bowl with S. Psittacina and P. Lutea, those plants are healthy and have no such...
The FPV cam I bought was defective and it appears the IR hot mirror detached during shipment. While I'm waiting for the replacement module I can fool around with some IR photography.
Various Pinguicula
For my birthday, someone was kind enough to send two pings:
Pinguicula moranensis
and Pinguicula esseriana
Now I have a collection of four, inculding P. cyclosecta and P. koehres.
I planted them in the same all mineral substrate as my first two pings (70% turface 30% sand 0.05% Fe203) and...
I have a couple mexican pinguicula for giveaway, P. ehlersiae and P. agnata "El Lobo". These are plants I started a couple months ago so they are still small, think dime sized, they've been growing nicely though. I might get pictures up at some point. You can enter both but if the same name...
Mostly I don't bother with flower pictures because it is a pain getting the pots out of the crowded tray to get good angles. These are outdoors so much more room. It's also very difficult to render the colors true or catch the subtle veining or other variations. And many of the flowers look so...

Last year's leaf cuttings yielded some nice plants. I've given away or donated the majority; I'd like to trade the remaining plant(s).
I'd be interested in: plants, leaf pulls, or cuttings, etc. of Pinguicula, Utricularia, and Nepenthes that I don't already have. I could be tempted by other...
Hi Everyone,
I need advice from the experts. I just started growing Pinguicula. About a month ago, I ordered a P. cyclosecta and a P. kohres from cascade carnivores, pictured below:
Left, P. cyclosecta Right, P. kohres. They came bare root. I planted them immediately in a 1:1:1 mixture of fine...
Hi, many of my plants are doing well and reproducing. Thus in the spirit of spring and the genorosity shown to me over the years in the boards I'm doing a giveaway! The winning member will receive at least one plant of the following genera. Nepenthes, Drosera, Pinguicula, Sarracrnia...
Ok, the NASC Auction introduced me to this plant and .... well ... I want it :-).
Lots of Sarracenia and a number of Mexican Pinguicula to trade as well as the following Drosera:
D. filiformis filiformis (NJ and NC)
D. x hybrida (NJ)
D. x beleziana (NJ)
D. filiformis tracyi (FL)
D. filiformis...
