Hi y'all
I've grown tons of Nepenthes over the years but never have grown any from seed... anyway I just got some interesting highland seed from South Africa and was wondering if I could get a little walkthrough of how to do it... what soil do you use? Do you put a plastic cover over the seeds...
Hey folks! I'm beginning to realize that with the addition of a humidifier (check), my windowsill is actually a pretty good spot to grow LL Neps. I was hoping to add one or two to my windowsill to try it out.
I'm particularly interested in N. bicalcarata and N. rafflesiana, but am open to...
Here I go again, causing mischief. I just spent all day condensing my unwieldy grow rack setup down into a terrarium. Just got a 24"x18"x24" terrarium delivered today, and so far the results are great! Here's the play-by-play:
1) Out with the old...
2) Reclaim some space
3) Fasten a...
My goal for this setup is to make some of my highland Neps happy. Most of my Neps do fine in my basement conditions but a few, such as N aristolochioides, need it colder. I haven't bought anything for this setup yet. I'm looking for feedback on how you think this will work.

I've been looking for a 110V timer switch that would allow me to say, run a small fan or a humidifier every half hour for 5 minutes. Maybe I don't just don't know what to call it but I haven't had any luck searching the 'net. Anyone know of such a thing at an affordable price? Thanks for reading...
Hey everyone,
Recently the fan on my zoomed reptifogger stopped working. I was able to replace it with another computer fan i had lying around but I'm thinking of getting a new fogger. I dont think the reptifogger is going to last much longer and I'm doubling the size of the current tank...
I got this plant 4-6 months ago and it has not done much of anything for me. It looks very much like it did when I first received the plant; it has put out a few leaves but has not even thought about inflating a pitcher.
Conditions: Grown in a basement with a variety of Neps and Heliamphora...
Alright... So I put my humidity gauge out in my greenhouse last night and I've monitored it throughout the day. Just curious if neps can withstand these very mild swings in humidity.
(Sun rises at 6:00 AM and sets at 5:00 PM)
5:00 AM est. 90%
7:00 AM 75%
10:00 AM est. 50%

After some frustration with a cool mist humidifier and some failed make shift wick replacements I decided to put together a make shift humidifier myself using only materials I've had laying around the work bench from past experimentation with peltiers, bog gardens and water buckets.
Materials...
So I'm taking a trip to Lowe's today to get some much needed supplies for my grow rack.
Before I discuss anything, here is my current setup:

My main addition will be a hygrometer that will regulate a fan/Ultrasonic...
Hi everyone...especially Jens,
If you guys are seeing this...please tell me if I can do something...or if its all over. I woke up this morning to see the humidifier water empty and the duct tube that brings in outside air just blowing air into the tank. Normally this hasn't been a problem...
I'm hoping someone can help me figure out what's going on with my N. spectabilis x aristolochioides. The most recent leaf is distorted, as is the tendril (it's curled backwards). I thought it was a fluke, but now the newest leaf that is unfolding is showing the same problem. I've also...
So I am having problems keeping the humidity up in my grow room. Back when I was setting it up for a test run, the cool mist humidifier fogged the room up wonderfully. Since I added my lowlanders and heater to keep it warm the humidifier is not doing the job. Since I only have a few neps, I ran...
This post just became the "summary" of the build. All the pictures I posted here of the build are now in this first post. The original first post is quoted at the end of this one.
And here's the quick video tour:

Here is my (freshly cleaned) CP/orchid case. I used to have many mini orchids in this case as well as a larger version in the same bay window. Having a you kid (now 3) running around has limited my time. This smaller case has slowly been used more for CPs, which don't need quite the attention...

My first couple of plants are supposed to arrive tomorrow. (Keeping my fingers crossed) So I decided to throw this little grow cab together untill i can build a decent plant rack. It should do alright for now.
I cobbled together the light out of 4 seperate black lights, All but one came on...

This was originally written for my friend whose interest is piqued in Carnivorous Plants. I've worked very hard on this, but I don't doubt that perhaps I've forgotten anything meaningful or gotten something wrong. Please correct, or add other...
I have a spare reptifogger humidifier: http://www.reptilesupply.com/product.php?products_id=2394
It is missing the hose, but you can get one at any Lowes or Home Depot for 7 dollars. I am looking for pretty much any cp for trade, dews, pings, neps, helis, etc. I would love to trade for any heli...
As some of you know I had a "problem" with my humidifier while I was away and my nutans and minor died. :( Soooo.... I am looking to replace these guys. pm me with any offer and check out my growlist if there is anything you might want. I am also looking for tatei and folliculata. Thanks, Luca
