    GA3 for old Drosera seeds?

I sowed some Drosera seeds in March and only a few germinated. Then in May, I sowed more seeds in the same pot. None germinated. Last month, I moved the pot to receive more direct sunlight as the only plant in the pot of several hundreds seeds, a D. hartmeyerorum, is mature and I would like to...

Trying to figure out the be way to work with drosera machropyhlla and a lot of people are suggesting ga3 instead of heat strat. Anyone have any extra advice before I go ahead and try this method or it this a pretty good idea? ---------- Post added at 11:41 PM ---------- Previous post was at...

Byblis 'Goliath' x guehoi seed giveaway

These are seeds from our own Cindy. Siegfried Hartmeyer recommends for scientific accuracy they should be labeled Byblis filifolia 'Goliath' × guehoi(?). It is recommended that treatment with Gibberellic acid (GA3) be used to germinate these seeds. Flame/smoke treatment may also be effective...

Heeeeelp...... I just received GA3 for Byblis hybrid seeds....

...and I don't understand how many grams of this to mix with how much water. The table is cornfusing! All I know is that it's 20% and I've got as scoop: http://www.super-grow.biz/GA3Powder20.jsp

    New hybrid - B. 'Goliath' x guehoi

Hi everyone, I will be sharing the progress of the new Byblis hybrid in this thread. Enjoy! :water: Parents B. 'Goliath' - bore the fruits; over 120cm tall before the wind broke it into two; as a single stem until about 85cm in height when branching took place B. guehoi (A) - pollen used...

    B. gigantea vs B. lamellata

Has anyone has experience with germinating both species? I used GA3 but only B. gigantea responds. B. lamellata is extremely stubborn. Would heat/fire treatment be better? TIA!

Supplementation of MS medium with defined amino acids

Hi, all:-) I thought it would be nice to share the outcome of my experiments with supplemented MS medium on some drosera species in vitro. It is well known that the presence of aminoacids in tissue culture media can promote the growth of the plants in a very significant manner (e.g. glycine...

    Germinating Mammillaria theresae seed

I'm going to again try to germinate some Mammillaria theresae seed. So far, I haven't been able to get these seeds to germinate for me, but I want to finally get over the hump with these seeds that known for being one of the trickier species to germinate. I've done some reading up on the...

    GA3 pretreatment

Just wondering if anyone has tried a Gibberelic Acid soak of their nep. seed prior to sowing ? What ppm have you tried and for how long ? Other seeds from what I've read are around 150 ppm for 24 hours.

    Nepenthes hamata seedling . . .

Here is just one example from a March 2009 crop of Nepenthes hamata seeds from Queensland, which, initially, were germinated in plugs of milled sphagnum moss and horticultural sand (a great mix to avoid "damping off" disease from Phtophthora and Pythium fungi) and later replanted -- plug and all...

    FRESH D. Dichotoma seeds

___I still have Lots of seed!___ USA only please. I don't have the proper pieces of paper. A pretty good haul! It took five or six flowerstalks to get this much. Fresh seeds mean that (don't quote me) they don't need stratification (what I was told) and that they sprout and grow faster and...

    Gibberellic Acid

I'm considering purchasing some GA3. I've found a place that sells it for a reasonable price, but can't find any reviews for the site itself. Could any of you recommend a trusted source for some GA3? I don't need much, maybe a gram or half a gram to play with. Thanks, Crystal

    Germinating S. oreophila seeds

I received some S. oreophila seeds from the ICPS seed bank a few months ago and after 4 week startification I saw no germination after 1 month. I then tried a GA3 approach for 24 hours and still saw no germination. I attempted a 2nd GA3 approach and I am still seeing no germination. Is it safe...

11 year old byblis gigantea seed sprouted

11 years ago our green house blew away in a very large storm, when this happened i quit collecting CP. About 2 months ago i found a large bag of seed stashed away in a refridgerator. The bag contained alot of petiolaris seed, several hard to get tuberous drosera, 4 forms of byblis and about 20...

    The ultimate seed-growing thread

Since there seems to be a spike in interest in seed grown plants (finally), I've decided to throw this down as the ultimate reference. First, I decided to make my own guide on sowing. I do not advocate the use of sphagnum, especially for growing from seed, for these reasons: 1) The moss can...
