Sup, peeps? I have a problem. My N. campanulata have settled in and are pitchers well, growing fast, and all is well... BUT the pitchers just aren't lasting. I have never encountered this problem, so I don't know how to address it.
I feed twice a month. Half strength organic fertilizer. The...
Yes. Clay. I love this stuff. I have noticed that in pots where I use 50% arcillite, 25% LFS, and 25% bark & charcoal as the medium, with a 1/4th inch top dressing of Sphagnum, I can have near-instantaneous drainage , however, it has been my experience that it does not dry out any faster than...
I've seen a lot of posts and threads about fertilizing Cephalotus, but noone has said how much to dilute the solution.
I'll be using a 20-14-13 orchid fertilizer that calls for 1 teaspoon per gallon. How much should I dilute it and how should I apply it?
Thanks
-Matt
I was wondering if anyone here has tried fertilizing cephs, specifically with an organic fert. through the soil.
I'm open to hearing about any other methods people have tried though!
Some pics of my izumae x truncata
It's starting to settle in well and is growing fast.
The leaves are a lot smaller than when I received the plant.
It's growing in vermiculite, pearlite, shultz orchid mix, and a small amount of lfs to hold moisture.
I have been fertilizing for 3 months with...
I've read that fertilizing cobras will speed their growth. My question is should I do it just after they germinate, or should I wait some time? Also, which fertilizers are best? Finally, is it beneficial to fertilize sarracenia or vft seedlings?
Thanks
I'd like to try fertilizing some of my more sluggish growers. I want to get some advice though, as I've never used anything but gibberellins on my plants and I'd rather not overfertilize. I have those Oscomote pellet things...will those work? Do I just throw them on the soil or dissovle them in...
are the red leaves from the high light levels or from fertilizing? ( i havnt fertilized in a while) and why are my amp pitchers not lasting that long, is it from high humidity levels?
thanks alot guys
I've heard of people experimenting with low levels of fertilizers (stuff in the sticky up top) especially when it comes to a lot of Neps and a huge greenhouse.
I was wondering if any of you have tried using Worm Castings? I've been reading into organic fertilizing and they get a lot of good...
Well here we are! The giant of the d. filiformis ssp. filiformis clan. Very nice plant, taller than typical filiformis. (Tracyi is in a class by itself!) Purple flowers, self fertilizing. Red glands. Quite a beautiful sight with the sun behind it in the evening. Catched insects like any other...
I've got 4 Mangrove tree seedlings at a blowout sale at my aunt's Bachmanns flower shop growing in a 4" undrained pot of aquarium gravel and they should really be moved to a nice big new container (they're almost 2 ft tall) but I'm curious about several things. I'm hoping someone else has some...
Ok, first let me premise this by saying I'm stupid. I have never seen sphagnum moss (dried, live, or otherwise) in a store except in the reptile department of a fish store I frequent. They use it for growing all kinds of terrarium plants, but because it was intended for reptiles, they wanted a...
I have been growing nepenthes for just under three years and many plants have grown well for me. Living in Hawaii with warm year around climates and good lighting, humidity and water, I have been successful in growing a wide range of species and hybrids. I base this success on fertilizing...
My pot of Pinguicula moranensis is obviously a good deal away from being healthy enough to consider fertilizing them (I want them to reestablish their roots and commence healthy growth in their new homes), but what do all of you use to fertilize your pings? Or do you even bother to fertilize...
I was wondering if it is bad to fertilize a Nepenthes. I have a young N. Judith x Finn, and I was trying to revive it after it had been in my badly-made terrarium. Since it is winter now, I can't find any bugs, so I decided to apply fertilizer to my Nepenthe's leaves. It is doing great, and has...
I think i have bad luck with Watermelon, does somebody knows how to cultivate them correctly (Light, humidity, Soil. Fertilizing, temp..) im specially interested in Carolina Cross Watermelons (Yes the HUGE ones)
I've got a tiny h.heteradoxa x minor...usually pitchers pop up from the base of the plant but recently pitchers have been coming out from the lower halves of existing pitchers. Most have been coming up green, these are an orangy-red. At first I thought they might be flower stalks. I've been...
First off, sorry for not being around lately, other responsibilities have been taking precedence. And yes UKC, I spell checked the big post LOL
Anyhow...
YAH! SERIOUSLY! If you don't want to believe me that’s fine, but please hear me out on this. In theory, it is totally possible to cross a...
Not really a question, just an observation...
I was doing my watering today and during some close inspection in the highland tank and it seems "spring" has sprung for the plants in the highland chamber. With the days reaching only 70-75*F now, the sphagnum moss is coming back to life (it died...
i have about 12 small cactus no bigger then a foot and some of them look like they are being affected by the fertilizer im usaing. im using a 2 7 7 cactus fertilizer supposed to be for all cactus and succulents i only fertilze once a month the directions say for indoor cactus 7 drops for every...
