not too many flowers up this year, but i will do with what i can....looking like oreo, oreo x leuco, oreo...
Well i thought i would move this into its own subject because i have definitely chosen to try to breed bettas again. so i have the basic's down and have gotten babies before just haven't gotten them to reach maturity do to a food shortage. So im going to give it another go, 3rd time around...
Would anyone know if it is possible to cross these two? As they are flowering at the same time, I said to myself, that could make a cool cross, as they are very similar in shape, pincushion type when mature, yet one is thick furry, the other, thin like binata... The only other cross I've ever...

So this year, I crossed the ginormously sized Leah Wilkerson with an equally large Oreo x Flava cross. Both of these plants have been known to reach sizes of 40", so even though there are no guarantees, one of the offspring could turn out to be rather large.
Even if not, both parent species are...
Here's the Flytraps I grow:
New arrival, Cross-Teeth
Now for the Cuptrap I got from the NASC Auction here:
The old Tiki pot Flytrap... Triffid Park x Burbank's Best. The Plant is highly coloured where the others are green due to rainy & cloudy weather on LI since forever it seems...
So I lucked out and my heavily speckled seed grown gracilis turned out to be female.
The bloom is pretty small, even for gracilis:
The pitcher:
I have 4 males flowering right now and I think the most interesting cross would be with fusca 'Sarawak'. Here is an old pic:
The only...
So one of the things I often daydream about is what hybrids I would make between nepenthes if I could. I'm probably not the only one here who does that. In fact, I know I'm not. There was a similar thread not too long ago. But not many people gave a lot of explanation for their crosses. So in...
After several attempts at crossing filiformis "Florida all red" and var. tracyi, I've finally gotten a seed to germinate and it has just reached maturity. As of right now, the only other filiformis cross that I'm aware of is D. 'California sunset' which is the standard filiformis crossed with...
These pictures are from my trip to Venezuela. Went to some neat place, but this was by far my favorite place. Los Medanos de Coro, or the Sand Dunes of Coro in English. I've never been to a desert like this before, so it was a breath taking experience. And these pictures just don't do its...
Hello Friends,
Well, after some extensive selective cross-breeding amongst my Byblis 'Goliath' clones, I've finally reached success! I'm pleased to announce the first documented miniature form of Byblis 'Goliath' aka "BG-C12 X BG short clone C" ;
By crossing this short clone variant with...
I think this one takes the cake so far:
S. x 'Abnorma' (S. [ (flava v. rugelli x leuc) x (x Royal Ruby)] x [(x wilissi) x flava v. cuprea])
That comes out to, if you do the math -- [ (flava v. rugelli x leuc) x (flava x leuc)] x [(x (psittacina x purpurea) x (purpurea x (flava x purpurea))) x...

Yesterday I saw something that really is a disgrace to the human race. I understand that most people don't share my love of snakes. I also understand that most people have a fear of snakes. What I can't understand is why people can't just let things be that they don't understand or like...
So I kinda poked around and as surprised to find that there didn't seem to be a thread concerning this already. Maybe this is in the wrong forum because its kind of abstract, but I still thing it belongs in Nepenthes.
SO! If you had any two male and female flower stalks of any Nepenthes...
I have a complete and total newbie question.
I see all kinds of neato crosses between various Sundews, but, I am somewhat new to growing plants, so... I guess my question is, is there a limit as to how far you can cross one?
I am not talking about crossing 2 crosses, I know sundew hybrids are...
I had intended to flask these, but the pod split several days ago and I just do not have the time for any TC projects any time in the near future. They are the result of crossing 2 unnamed standard Cymbidium hybrids- nothing special. The seed parent has purple flowers, and the other light pink...
I'm pleased to announce the successful crossing of my Drosera kennealyii X Drosera lanata "wooly" :)
The one supposed photo of such a cross in Bob Z's CP photobase doesn't quite show enough traits of both proposed parents, so it's authenticity is quite questionable, in my opinion. You will in...
