I am getting tired of pulling brown rhizomes out of the pots. So is there any part of this that sounds wrong?
large fiberglass planters with plug in the bottom
some horticultural charcoal in the bottom
50/50 peat/perlite mix
lots of water
sarracenia
much sunlight
All I can figure is that either the ones that died were ones that didn't care for being separated or the charcoal is a no-no. I asked a reputable nursery about it and was told it was ok so...ok.
It has been dry around here, but the pots get soaked (and YES it is RO water). There are occasional squirrel digging episodes but nothing gets tossed out of the dirt. The flava in a normal pot in a tray of water is looking good, and a few of the others are starting to do something. The purps in normal pots and trays are ok as well. What the heck about this planter set up is so bad?? Why are some sort of growing and others not?
