Unusual Heliamphora growth. any idea why it did this?

Gr8oz and I found one of the heliamphoras like this in the greenhouse today. having what looks like a pitcher, on an emerging flower stalk. picture is attached, we just thought it was weird and wondered if anyone had any explanations?

yes. it's a flowerstalk. heliamphoras are primative plants, it's not surprising that the lamina on the flowerstalk make pitchers as well. fortifies the belief that flowers are modified leaf structures.

very common to have a perfectly formed, miniature pitcher on a flower stalk,

Yes, bract pitchers are pretty common.
