Thank you! Thank goodness the bog mostly takes care of itself, HA. I have to dig out the bog this winter and redo it due to all the weeds and crappy choking moss that took over in my extended absences this year, so look for some major sarr division giveaways next year

Of course, I only posted the good stuff, haha. Up until last year I was home everyday over the years to keep the creeping mazus, bad moss, and weeds at bay in the bog, which allowed the VFT, pings, and dews to thrive there amongst the sarracenia year round. With my extended absences taking care of family matters the invasive plants took total control of the bog, choking out many of the VFT, pings, dews, and seedling purps. Even the mature sarrs did not do as well as normal throughout the growing season this year, although the late season sarr varieties are looking good now most likely due to the cutworm population mostly having morphed (which thrived in the out-of-control invasive ground cover and moss this spring/early summer). I also lost sarrs and VFT in the kiddie pools because I was not there over winter to keep the pools from flooding, drowning/rotting them. Examples of neglect you did not see:

Fortunately, I am back in the game this fall and able to care for my CPs the way they deserve to be cared for and next year look forward to returning the bog to pristine condition, replace VFTs and temperate pings/dews that were lost, and be able to give back to this awesome community once again.

Yeah, that was my saving grace over the past year and a half as far as watering goes, the bog pretty much took care of itself in that respect. Sarrs are awesome for bouncing back from poor conditions if caught in time, ha. Temperate dews not so much, but luckily they produce lots of seed to start over when desaster strikes.

A big part of the reason your plants are still doing so well is you have had the foresight to set up your bogs so they don't need a lot of watering, it seems to me. I'm bowled over that you have such great plants.

Your old smaller bog looks like my old bigger bog. Tall grasses have consumed it.. I mow all around it, but I don't have the heart to trim the grass (and pitchers), or the time to weed.

Yeah, sometimes the grass/weeds win. I did not do much "playing god" this year in the way of hand-pollinating the sarr flowers for crosses, but it looks like they did okay on their own without my help so may be some interesting stuff come out of the seed.
