Do you guys find growing Sarracenia in trays better than not? I used to, but some growers have convinced me to grow them on the drier side. Apparently it reduces rot. I noticed some of you live out west where it's drier. I live in south Florida. Maybe these are factors.

I've got some S. flava pollen now. Maybe early next week some S. leucophylla and S. 'Dana's Delight' pollen.

No S. rosea though.

I'll let Noah address the S. rosea flap, but DNA studies show a strong genetic difference between S. purpurea ssp. venosa var. burkii and the other S. purpurea.

Admit it, it's a different plant. Notice the flower stalks are short. And the flowers look like roses. And "rosea" is one heck of a lot easier to say than "purpurea ssp. venosa var. burkii". Just rolls right off the tongue!

Nope. Whoop-di-do it's got pink flowers with a short stem and an "overdeveloped" peristome. I refuse to call it that for now

And S. alabamensis and jonesii are just types of rubra. They don't deserve their own species status, IMO.
