poetry contest

Prize to be announced. Carnivorous plant themed haiku or limerick. No swears or naughtiness. I will get you started:

Haiku (non rhyming 5-7-5)

Jack Frost slapped my plants
I will punch his kidneys
Until its springtime

Limerick (a-a-b-b-a, 7-7-5-5-7)

There once was a fly named Pete
who was looking for something to eat
he smelled some nice crap
a pitcher plant trap
oh noes, a plant that eats meat!

"There once was a girl from Nantucket . . ."

They said it couldn't be done
Growin' pitcher plants without the sun
My plants grew big and strong
Still they tell me I'm wrong

There once was a Byblis named Lou
Everyone envied his dew
Then one day
To the whole bog's dismay
Lou changed his name to Sue

"The Drosera"

Cursed worse than the Hope,
Great gems glitter in the dew.
Here, souls rot away.

-John Paul Harris

"Prize to be announced"

Please won't you tell me the prize...
before your untimely demise;
Not any plant will do,
'cept sarr's and large 'dews,
or plants that'll chow down on flies.

'Wet Peristome'

Two ants once wagered a bet
'Round they'd race, this track slicked wet
They revved to VAROOM!
But plunged to their doom
Damned to swim laps of regret

"Carnivorous plant rap"

i am into Carnivorous plants
so natrally this is one of my favorite chants
i like pitchers so you see
so my favorite of all is the napenthe
it has a special trap
and it smells like sap
so all the bugs that fly in
definetly wont make it back

i know its not a poem but i thought it would be an appropriate time to share it though lol

The cat ate Venus's leaves,
So many they gave him heaves.
The plant hatched a plot,
it outgrew its pot...
Fur in its traps, I believes.

sarracenia
stood strong as winter approached
resting in silence

thank you

Someone took a nep to the science fair,
He told me to look in it if I dare,
I peered inside,
I fell in and died,
He needs to study on nepenthes care.

Ya, I'm probably not going to win; but I had fun with it, right?
I always liked making poems when I was younger. I remember one that I made in 4th grade! (This doesn't count)

There once was a man from Purue,
He found a pickle in his shoe,
He ate it all up,
His brain went corrupt,
So no more pickles for you.

I just can't believe I still remember that.

"What rhymes with Nantucket?"

There once was a Sarr from Nantucket...
that told bugs, "Crawl near my bucket."
The insects: They laughed!
Then fell in real fast.
On their way down, cursing, "Ah, schmuck it!"

Final Limerick III

Annoying pests are in a trance.
Around death traps they always dance.
It's time for their resting,
and time for digesting.
Who doesn't love bug-eating plants?

'Cloud Forest Mistress'

Veiled Nepenthes
warmed by Sol's caress, wakes from
mist enshrouded dreams
