Ping leaf cuttings

During November/December period when the weather is cooler and more humid, I like to repot my Pings and take leaf pullings for propagation. This method worked well for me last year so I am repeating it. ^_^

These leaves were pulled off on 8th November 2007.

This is how they are now.

Oh cool! The that potting media vermiculite and LFS moss?

Which ping is that?

The potting mix is pure perlite and live sphagnum moss.

The green ones are P. emarginata x moranensis. The reddish plantlets are P. 'Sethos'.

Where are the heart-shaped bloodworms! Joseph Clemens once said that the combination of LFS and Perlite is a good one for Mexican pings because it provides both moisture for the roots and drainage. I just can't remember which should overlay the other!

As an experiment, a couple of months ago I took a few P. 'Sethos' leaves and placed them on the top of some LFS in a couple of Nepenthes pots. As advised, I just left them alone and ignored them for a few weeks. They have REALLY thrived for me and have done much better on LFS than in soil.

i took pulled three leaves in october, 2 died and the other one is taking forever :-(

so after you pull out the leaf you put it in perlite water and moss is it?

Lay the leaf on slightly moist media (any will do) and wait a few weeks.
