@fed: it was pulling a bluff, and trying to run to a larger tide pool where it cant be spied and "predated upon" by humans.

Nice thread Zuzana. Here are a couple o shots from the Channel Island of the two-spotted form of our boneless little friend, taken at about twenty meters.

THAT IS THE PRETTIEST OCTOPUS EVER!!!!

I love cephalopods so very much :-D
I have a cuttlefish for my phone background and avatar
And a sea-background thing in the back of my car (plush octopus, lobsters, crabs, and a shark- my favorite critters :3)
And on my review mirror I have my Japanese Octopus necklace :3

Andandandand...
My teacher would tell us about his pet octopus he had.
It was well behaved when he was home, it'd watch TV with him and stuff.
But when he went to work, it'd escape.
And the first day he came home, it was on the floor by the tank.
So he put it back in, and put a couple books on the lid.
The next day he comes in, and the lid is totally flipped off and the octopus was crawling towards the door when he walked in.
So again, he puts the octopus back in the tank, this time duct-taping it sealed .
He comes home the next day, and the ducttape is in a ball across the room, and the octopus is totally missing. Puzzled, he's looking around for it, and turns around to see it sneaking outside from behind the door. It hid behind the door and waited for him to come home.
After that, he gave up and took it back to the pet store.

They are highly intelligent and notorious escape artists so that doesn't surprise me :-))
