I was wondering if when you have Nepenthes hybrid, if there is a protocol to name those hybrids. I mean, when you see the crosses like thorelii x aristolochioides, or thorelii x maxima, or gracilis x rafflesiana, etc. Is there a protocol so I can know which parent was the male or which one was the female?

Does the male name come first or is it the female, or there is no protocol and/or way to know this?

If  I have a male ventricosa and a female sanguinea and I crossed them, which name should I place first when I classify the new seedlings produced by this cross?

Any help?

It's always female x male. Whoever gives the seed is always the female, so if you cross a male ventricosa and a female sanguinea, it will be called N.sanguinea x ventricosa
