A few species of Sphagnum from Caroline County, VA. We're working on IDing it, and getting it into cultivation

I call this "cushion" Sphagnum. You can see why.

Probably S. rubellum. It's much darker than most forms of red Sphag.

Have ID's for those yet? Pretty cool species.

No clue what the first one is, second one is the infamous "Cushion" Sphag, and the last is S. rubellum.

That cushion sphagnum could be a big help with transplanting seedlings. I had enough trouble of trying to thread tiny Nepenthes roots through the stringy felt of regular sphagnum with out damaging them.

That stuff is a little too big for Nep seedlings. It would outgrow them quickly. S. compactum is better for seedlings.
