This pitcher is on a plant that is outdoors, and it attracts flies and gnats. Gnats go in, and most get stuck on the wall of the pitcher, but the flies stay on the lid and don't go into the pitcher. Lately I've also seen ants walking on the peristome, and they don't fall in.
