How'd I get so behind on this thread? Things are looking great, Dj! I really like the light green stripe on the 'Red Dragon' trap. Any pics to be had of your 'Florida Giant' D. filiformis?

  • #142
You didn't get behind, you were in Florida when I updated the thread. I don't have any recent photos of the "Florida Giant" dew, but will get to that when the weather clears.

Some photos of the Cephs I am currently working on from leaf pulls (Hummer Giant and vigorous) and my first ceph flower! Also, some of my P. grandifolia flowering in the bog.

love those grandifolia.. that's supah cool.
And I quit using that kind of "sand" as a mix or topper. It's basically just broken glass, isn't it?
Congrats on the ceph flower btw!

Looking great Djoni. P.grandiflora just started popping up in my bog too. Probably be at least another year until they look as good as yours though. Awesome plants !

Thank you! Yeah, the P. grandiflora did not flower last year at all and the year before that only a couple produced one flower each, I think they liked the mild winter we had. Same for the P. macroceras. They all also produced lots of gemmae last year. This year I am propagating P. vulgaris from seed to see how they do in the bog.

Those are some happy-looking little cephs. How did you grow the one that is blooming?

Thank you. Your P. grandiflora will be on its way next week. I think the glass sand is purty as a top dressing :p although it does tend to clump/harden when wet.

The ceph that is blooming is a very small division from my ceph "vigorous" I did in December and then put in the garage in a window for winter, then in early spring I put it on a windowsill inside the house and to my shocked surprise the litte bugger flowered.

Nice mantids and psittacina hybrid!

  • #153
Wow. That's a pretty dazzling post! 'Love the seedlings.

  • #154
Beautiful. Love that one of the yellow jacket peeking into the pitcher!

  • #155
very nice dj.....love the one with the mantis peeking at you

  • #156
Thanx guys. I had a good crop of mantids this year, but sadly they played havoc with the tree frog population in the bog so I didn't get to photograph frogs in pitchers this year.

Most of my Sarracenia are looking tired and worn out, but yours look fresh as the proverbial daisy. Love the VFT eating itself! Great pics, DJ!
