Death by cactus w/pics

This can't happen very often.
I noticed a black spot on my cactus and upon closer inspection I found a fly that hit one of the spines head on.

OUCH! Nice catch :) I don't know why people like cactus though... It's some horrid stuff! (I'm not a fan at all lol) I have a human example of someone doing that... No... thank... you!
(No, I don't know who it is... A friend of mine was there and took the pics)

Quadding actually... And from other pictures I think it is a girl.

Here is a shot of the area.

The fly must have been on the run from something, how could it miss that with it's 1000 eyes? lol

Andrew
At first I thought that pic had to be fake, how could someone possibly get covered with that much Cholla (I think that's what it is) but then the shot of the 4 wheeler gives it all away. Glad it ain't me!

I keep bumping into my knee high San Pedro column cacti in the dark since I've moved them inside for the winter. I caught on one last night when I got home and tipped it over at 5 in the morning. Scattering top dressing pebbles across the tiled floor (over the neighbors bedroom ceiling). lol
Next winter when they come in they should be "crotch height" and that will be even worse! :D

That's uncanny! Maybe your cactus has psychic powers. And a grudge against houseflies.

:-))

Oh, man! I'm STILL giggling.

I did that once with a finger, though. I WASN'T giggling then. I re-potted a golden barrel graft that wouldn't stay UP. So I shoved a stake in there to hold it up, and my hand slipped....

That fly beats my head-stuck fly.
