Your plants are looking very nice my friend! That first light has a great peristome
And rhe upper on Sam burb is pretty awesome too!

My first Venus Flytrap flower of the season from a giant typical. I've repotted it a couple times in the last six months which is probably why it's flowering so early. Actually this is my first VFT flower that I've ever let fully flower, I cut all my other ones off last year before they opened.

Wow! That's nice huge one :) great growing!

Wish I was more successful with VFTs. I just bought a clump a few days ago after years of not growing them. Hopefully I'll do better at keeping them alive this time around.

Holy cow! What conditions/feeding do you give your flytraps?

Thanks! Well last year since I'd never grown VFTs before I really didn't know what would work so I moved them around quite a bit, but finally settled on full sun most of the day. It misses the morning sun because of a row of plants that blocks the wind (a major problem here). Planted in 50/50 peat and perlite in a cement mixing tub w drainage about 1" from the bottom. Maybe 6" of mix, seemed like more when I first planted, it probably compacted some. Also a layer of dried LFS on top to keep the perlite down. For a couple of months I fed them as many bugs as I could, especially earwigs. If a trap was open, I put an insect in it; but then I got bored of always closed traps and wanted to see if it could get some more color so I stopped.

Those rhizomes were monstrous. Seriously monstrous. I could definitely tell you'd nailed their light/nutrition requirements. Major kudos!! I can barely keep pace with you with chemical fertilizers and a greenhouse.

2014-02-19 - all Seed Grown plants. The one in the center went to flower, but none of the others were big enough.
