    Freezer Neps Part 2

As some of you may know, I've puchased a chest freezer a while back to turn into an ultrahighland environment. Well everything was going very smooth until the thing ran into issues keeping cool. After getting it fixed, the project was back in action nearly 6 months later. Plants: 1 N. rajah 2"...

    More highlander questions

Nepenthes stenophylla. Is this an ultra or can it be grown intermediately too? If Hamatas were not so expencive I would try one of those and grow it like Elgecko does as a windowsil plant. I am still looking so more questions to come.

    How long?

Just about how long can highlander nep's live without the night temp' drop? And another question: what exactly is considered a ultra highlander?

    Indoor lighting

Although I don't need lights for growing, I was curious about eventually setting up a indoor growing room with colder ultra highland stuff eventually. Can anyone demystify the use of correct lighting for best growth, coloring, and photoperiod for setting up such a room? Also while we may also...

    Home movies figure set: brendon

Hey guys, here's the first few step of making the Home Movies figure series. Some of you may remember I did Coach McGuirk. I recently did roughs of all three kids (Brendon, Jason & Melissa) in green toy wax but with the studio gig I didn't have time to go further. Tonight I made a aglinate mold...

Question about care of "ultra" highland nepenthes

My question is regarding care of "ultra" highland Nepenthes species N. villosa and N. rajah. My plants are still pretty small (3" pots) and appear healthy. The rajah has been pitchering regularly while the villosa has slowed down considerably. My terrerium is between 75-80 degrees in the...

    Nepenthes villosa

Hi to all! In a couple of weeks I and a dear friend of mine are going to be the owner of the Ultra Highlan Nepenthes Villosa! The Plant will be about 3-4 cm wide and potted in Torf. I am beginning to inform me about the best way to let this plant growing. Could you transmit me your past and...

    I think it's time...

For those of you who know my wife and I at all, you'll understand the sensitivity of the topic. For those who don't know... We won't get into it right now. My wife is about 17 weeks pregnant. We kept this very very hush hush (even to our family) until some tests came back, and the good news is-...

Think about what you write before you post

I first have to put a caveat on this statement. I am not saying this as a Mod, or in any official capacity, but as a member. I know it's a Feature Novel in length, but I REALLY want you to read it. There have been more than a few threads here lately which I have not been able to moderate...

    April fools

Hey there I was wondering if anyone here, aside from the obvious Ozzy, had managed to pull off any good jokes today? I did the simple ones. When I got into work today I borrowed a phone from a friend and called in sick as I stared at my manager messing with her computer. When she said she...

Had to get my jejunal tube replaced!

Well I had to get surgery yesterday to get my J-tube replaced. It bursted when I tried to flush. It had gotten so much gook in it(curdled tube feed) that it had over a foot of the tube blocked with it and it had turned black! It was a rather painful procedure, they had to manipulate my j-tube and...

    Misting system

I have been thinking about a misting system for a 6'L x 4'H x 2'W Nepenthes chamber. I am thinking between a greenhouse type misting system or a ultra sonic mister. The greenhouse like system would not actually include an electric pump or the computer control (a timer and ac adapter would be...

Phalaenopsis orchid for nep or maybe sarr

On the trading block is a Dtps. Brother Victoria 'B#1" x Phal. Brother Passat 'Brother'.  This gets yellow and pink flowers and bloomed from two spikes this year. Brother Phals come from a Taiwanese breeder and are warm to hot growers.  Especially the yellow ones.  So, unlike most of my...

    GE Ultra Daylight

Has anyone used a 40w Ultra Daylight fluorescent for their CP's?  I had to try it today, since I upgraded my terrarium to 4 bulbs instead of 2.  They are rated at: 3050 initial Lumens, 6500 color temperature, and a CRI of 75.  Oh course the CRI is a bit lower than a lot of grow lights out there...

As some of you have herd...

Well, I know some of you I have spilt to and others I have not.  So just to make it a little bit easier I'll just tell you all.  After Deangela and I got married on April 26th '03 we went ahead and removed her from the birth control and switched over to prenatal vitamins.  It took a whole month...

Growth rates of n. campanulata & n. clipeata

Hi Folks, I've had these two since about May or so and they seem to be growing very slowly. The clipeata put out plenty of leaves and juvenile pitchers but it doesn't seem to be increasing in real size. The N. campanulata has put out two or 3 leaves since may and is making it's first pitcher...

    Sanguinea

I got a Sanguinea two weeks ago and it seems to be doing okay. It's making a new piture and everything. Now, I didn't find a lot of spisific info on this plant. Any tips or tricks? I'd like to move it outside at some point, but I don't want to accidently kill it, it is super ultra pretty...

    Ultra rare drosera photos

I thought maybe some of you might like to see some very rare Drosera photos. As far as I know, these are the only photos currently on the web of Drosera ramentacea; there are 3 photos which come courtesty of Robert Gibson, and a single photo of Drosera cendeensis courtesy of Fernando Rivadavia...
