    Questions about plants

I have a list of plants and a empty 10 gallon tank. I'm thinking of some neons and a betta for sure. For the substrate I'm using eco-complete. For this list of plants would 30 watts be ok? Some of these have a light rating of 10 so let me know what you think. I will also have a co-2 canister...

    Zephyranthes rain lily

Hey folks, I'm hoping maybe someone here has a slight obscure lily affliction like me and can give me some tips. Today I picked up a Zephyranthes grandiflora (OCA Z. rosea according to Plant Delights Nursery). It's coming into bloom the already blooming siblings were beautiful but i want to...

    Please identify my neppy

Someone gave me this plant as a bedraggled little thing to nurse back to health (she had bought it out of town and the flight back had been very hard on the plant). I blame my success entirely on the plant's hardiness. The pitchers are around 2" high, and the plant currently has 6 of them...

    D. cistiflora

Hey, this is my first of the "tuberous" type drosera, and it's not really tuberous. It's a winter-growing South African sundew that dies down to thick roots in the summer. Right now, it's ended it's rosette stage and is just starting to climb. Check it out: It should get 8 to 12 inches tall...

    Cutting Questions

I'm kinda hesitate to do this because I never tried hacking a nep before . I'm only doing this because the plant keeps tiping over since it's heavy. 1.Too early to do cuttings? 2.I want to try air layering, does the stem have to be a certain diameter. 3. The plant just started producing uppers...

    Available: N. 'Effulgent Koto' cuttings

Had a bit of an accident at the lab and my 2.5m 'Effulgent Koto' took a spill and broke its vine and knocked a basal rosette free. So I have available 1 basal rosette cutting and 2 vine cuttings. The basal have 3-4 leaves and is about 10cm diameter. The vine cuttings will be 2 nodes, about 30cm...

    Nepenthes mira

I've been growing N. mira for less than a year, so I know there are a lot of you out there who have had more experience with this plant.   The plant in question is flowering, even though it is in the rosette stage and no more than a foot across.  Is this unusual?  I cannot find any reference...

    Utricularia menziesii

Anyone grow Utricularia menziesii? I was just stumbling around the net and found some pictures of it. Crazy red flowers, with a strange sort of rosette at the base. I don't have many Utrics but i thought this one was interesting. Is it common and i just dont know about it? from www.acps.org.au...

    Some new drosera pics

OK, here are some pics of slightly rarer drosera I recently received that have started recover well. They are still new and far from mature plants: First, D. neocalidonica. The origianl rosette kinda went dormant on me, but this offshoot grew, and now the original one looks like it might perk...

    Drosera peltata question

I started some Drosera peltata seeds earlier this year. They never grew a main stalk. It just stayed as a rosette plant. They now are dying back. Does the main stem grow the first year after they germinate?
