About two weeks ago we started noticing a bug or two flying around our kitchen sink. We didn't think much of it until a few days had gone by and these things became a major pest. Anytime you walk into the kitchen, bedroom, or one of the bathrooms you can see at least 10 or 20 on the...
I know what an aphid looks like, but not everybody does. Someone posted a few pictures, somewhere, but I can't remember who or where.
Also, I wouldn't recognize spider mites or scale or fungus gnats if I saw one, although I found these picture:
So if you all have decent CP pest pcitures...
ok heres a pest that i see most of the times, i wont say more than this but heres a pic....

As some of you know I keep some of my Cps at a community greenhouse and the chairman of the greenhouse has recently passed. The new chairman is starting to bother me a bit. I know the former chairman can not be replaced but this guy's getting out of hand.
We had a very strict spraying schedule...
I have an oreo x leuco that has been having diffuclty this year... There is white specks as if the green pigment has been removed also there are some browning sections of the leaf. I've checked it thouroghly for pest and have even spayed it with ortho but it still seems to struggle. I have one...
Summers coming and that means natural pest control lady bugs and praying mantids. I've got 5 mantid egg cases on the way for my deck and other garden areas outside but I plan to put a couple nymphs in my terrariums maybe help expel the fruitfly epidemic without chemicals.
I've put them outside...
A few traps on my VFT are half chewed off a few others are completly missing. I've had several pest before but after spraqying I notice that in an orchid pot --almost four feet away-- there were drying heads. What could have removed and carried them that distance.
Hello fellow Nepenthes enthusiasts
I have a slight problem with the above named plant - each new leaf it has produced since acquiring it has resulted somewhat... deformed. The edges are pale and gnarled, almost reminiscent of thrips damage I've witnessed in the past. However, there are no...
I have been seeing some brown, ugly insects, with a funk odor, hanging out. I fed a couple of them to my Neps. Here's an exerpt from an article I read to day about them:
The brown marmorated stink bug, a native of Asia, feeds on apples, peaches, and other fruit.
TREE fruit growers in Eastern...
Hey guys, I was just thinking why don't we list our recipes for killing aphids and other bugs that attack our plants here. I'll go first.
1part coffee-1 tablespoon(I've read the caffeine will kill aphids and other pests)
1part dishwashing handsoap-1 tablespoon like ajax or palmolive(I've read...
Hey All,
It seems that I am constantly battling mealy bug infestation with my Sarracenias, but not with my Nepenthes. Both genuses of plants feed primarily on ants. Ants are known "farmers" of mealybug and scale because they are attracted to the honeydew produced by these pests, and they move...
So I've been battling aphids since mid-winter and I finally exhausted my big bottle of pyrethrum. I thought they were finally gone for good, after five weeks with no sightings, but today I found one on the flower stalk of my D. spathulata. I've gotten most of them, but they persist among my...
i got home last night and checked on my chins to make sure they were doing fine. gave them a few raisins, scratch behind their ears.....my usual after work wind down routine. well the degus in the cage above the chins were a squeaking and a chirping at me. generally the only time they are...
West Nile has just reached my town, so far just the birds. We have a bird bath that is usually very stagnant, the perfect spot for mosquito larvae. My question is, is there a good utric that could survive in a bird bath. I have a U. Subulata and I think my climate isn't an issue. The most...
I've heard that there is a problem, in areas to which CPs are native, with unscrupulous individuals field-collecting plants in mass, and selling them.
What are the telltale signs that a plant has been field-collected?
Some that I can think of include:
* grasses or other plants that share the...
Some of you may have seen my post regarding an infestation of mosquito larvae among my water trays. I first though, "Hey, I should toss in some Utrics and let them go to town," but soon put that idea aside, as I'm a student with very little cash to toss around.
Today, I remembered that here in...
I have not seen this in a loooong time. One of my tanks has broken out in those little tiny white guys that look like minute white rods. The N. "ile de France" seems like the focal point(95% on that one), but I have a sumatrana doing very well in there also.
What is the recommended pesticide...

Hi everyone,
Just thought that if the moderators could open up a forum for Pest, Diseases and Treatments of Carnivorous plants, especially listing each with a photo of what it looks like, a description and possible ways of treating it as it might assist ALOT of people in saving their precious...
