This is my home made flow hood, I built this off various designs I found off the internet. I debated how to build this for quite some time and this is what I came up with.
-For the clean area, using a 10 gallon tank with the bottom broke out courtesy of a hammer.
-Two filters were used, but...
Shes cute, we found her outside a friends house, mom said we could keep her.
Shes a cutie, we are asking around my friends neighbor hood, to see if her neighbors are missing a kitten.
Time to stop growing all my plants in 12% humidity!
I'm aiming for a nice, well-rounded CP terrarium to grow drosera, Nepenthes, and maybe a few Helis. Here's what I have now (pics coming):
- a crappy 30 gallon tank with a crack in it. 14 inches high, 12 inches deep, and 3 feet long. I have it...
Hey guys,
Been reading up on Tissue Culture so on but I didn't wanna pay a lot to give it a whirl so while I was heatng up my TV dinner tonight I put this little puppy together:
Made with a 66 quart clear Sterilite storage box (with white lid) from target
(no that's not anything illegal...
I just got a tank, i'll get the dimensions later on.
Anyway, it has a hood, with 1 fluorescent aquarium bulb (the purplish one) that is literally about as old as I am. I was thinking about getting a metal halide light. First of all, I found one on ebay where you can get a 10k, 14k, or...
I bought a hygrometer with my first 10 gallon terrarium, a Critterz, at the pet shop for $6. Today I found a Springfield digital thermometer/hygrometer with high/low readout at WalMart for $6.50, but since the readings were so differant, while I was at Lowes this evening, I bought a cheap...
Hi all,
I've really been enjoying browsing the forum. Here are some pics of a tank that I've been growing for a while now. I've just recently begun pouring energy into it and experimenting with different climate control techniques. I plan on turning it into a lowland tank and then building...
I only have a few CPs left that didn't die in the car crash, aren't at Eds, or didn't die in the cold, here they are. One of them is my precious Cephalotus which I ALMOST brought to Ed's but luckily didn't (probably would've died in the crash if I brought it along)

My first terrarium I made was from a ten gallon aquarium.I put alot of thought into
ventilation and humidity,I'm glad I did because I rarely have problems with mold (seedlings)
and I never have to mist my tank.
Here are some photos of how I made the lighthood.

I'm new to the forum but not to CP. I've been growing about 12 years. Lots of Mexican pings, some drosera, nep's, cephs, and sarrs. I primarily grow orchids but have a sizeable grow room built specifically for warm end of cool to the cool end of warm conditions. High pressure sodium lights...
I finally found the time to finish the light hood on my 3 foot long terrarium,And move my plants into it.
Here are the pictures.
I might add dirt in there later, something like this.
I had to work Saturday. Me and my boss was riding in a golf cart when we came up on another foreman that had stopped his truck in the road and was looking in the back of the truck. We stopped and walked up to him and I looked in the bucket. I saw a snake with it's head completely flattened...
This auction is for one mature division of Sarracenia 'Dana's Delight,' donated by Houston Herp Supply. This hybrid is one of my favorites, due to its tall pitchers (up to over two feet tall!) and deep crimson red color to the upper pitcher and hood. In fact. many of these have hoods that almost...
This auction is for one mature division of Sarracenia leucophylla 'Titan,' donated by Houston Herp Supply. This is a beautiful leucophylla cultivar established by Botanique, and has fantastic red and white coloring throughout the upper pitcher and hood. What's more, 'Titan' can reach 39 inches...
Ah! What the heck!
The bottom of my Ceph caved in due to too many bugs and water or something, but the pitcher is unable to catch bugs (only the bottom is damaged, you can't see it as the bottom is laying on the green sphagnum, which is nice.). The largest pitcher is turning yellow! First it...
Finding the correct way for spelling the scientific names of sarracenia is easy. You have Bob Z's sarracenia photos to help out, as well as the many resources through the ICPS. Just the same, I am going to list them for you (species only) to help out.
S. alata-----variations heavily veined...
Over the years a few observations on S. oreophila, a plant that behaves like few other pitcher plants. Mostly I just want to talk about the coloration aspect of the plant. Lets start with a few examples:
1.) A plant given to me by Joe Mazrimas, co-founder of the ICPS and CPN, was termed all...
