hello everyone! this past spring, i bought 2 plastic post that measure roughly 3' x 3' x 3', and filled them with a cp friendly soil, and lots of plants and seeds. these grow outside in full sun and are about 90% self sufficient.
with the onset of fall, i have begun to think about dormancy...
Sulfur, water, etc. I dont want to ship so plz dont reccommend one from this site or any other web site. Also, I want one I can get from my local Home Depot or Lowes or Metropolitian Plant Exchange.
Hi. I am wondering when I should put my North American species of CP's in my fridge. I think the dates were Thanksgiving to Valentines or something? Also, should I just cut off all the dead leaves and stick the plants in there after spraying with a sulfur based fungicide? Or was it a water...
I've never actually used fungicide or anything during my outdoor CPs' (VFTs/Sarrs) dormancies in past years, which explains the death of half of them every year.... anyhoo, I plan on using fungicide this year throughout dormancy, so I need advice on what kind of fungicide to use, and the exact...
Tomorrow, well techinally today, I'm going to buy some sand and vermiculite and probably pumice, but probably not neccessary. I might as well buy some fungicide and root powder in case for future uses. Is there a particular brand to buy for cps or will any kind work? Also, is there a preferred...
Well, I've finally gotten over my algae hatred and learned to ignore most of it. Now, though, I've noticed the begininngs of a white powdery substance apparently growing in a couple of my pots. On the soil only, not the leaves. I suspect it is a fungus. I don't wish to harm my CPs, and I am...
I just bought some rose pride, funginex fungicide.
Is this ok to use on my flytraps and sarra's?
I am also going to stratify some seed in the fridge in pots of live sphagnum. do I need to spray them?
Thanks,
Adam
My last post on D.adelae
Well, well...two plants repotted and one is showing signs of root rot. Sure enough, when I picked off some of the LFS/perlite mix I only see one healthy root with a rotting tip. Sigh...
I just flushed the pot with fungicide and moved it out to a brighter, more open...
I recently transplanted a couple D. adelae into a classic terrarium and I've noticed that one of the plants has aquired something odd. On its crown there is a small tuft of orange-ish fuzzy hair. Could this be a reaction to the change in conditions or is it some kind of fungus? Keep in mind that...
Hi.
Im new to fridge dormancy and I was wondering if I could just spray my plant with a fungicide then put it in a fridge wrapped in blck plastic at about 32 F. I wouldnt cut off the leaves or anything jst put the whole plant in the fridge. What do you think?
Hey, everyone;
haven't posted for awhile; but I have a quick question. I don't have pics but will be descript.
I have about 40 commons twelve weeks since bare root bought from Phil (of course) I potted them in 50/50 Canadian Sphagnum peat and perlite.
Overall, they appear very healthy, but...
I have some nice sarrs that I'm really happy with. They are gorgeous and fascinating plants. However....
I've noticed that some of them are pitchering(rubras) and then the lids start browning out almost immediately. Is this an indication of a fungal infection? I have an S x areolata in the same...
Today is NOT a good day. I just returned from a trip to find that my patio mini-bog of 4 years appears to be the victim of a fungal infection. It's the usual signs - wilted leaves; dead leaves; and, most notable, rhizomes that have turned brown and spongy, with just a few living white roots...
My VFT cuttings don't seem to be taking when I stick them in soil, so I was wondering if I put them in a glass of distilled with a drop of SuperThrive and fungicide added, and left them under a light, would they bud and root? Has anyone tried this?? I hope it would work, because it's a lot...
It wasn't long after I had my VFT that I began to notice the tiny new traps developing out of the center were turning black, and dying. Soon even the bigger developing traps were falling prey to this. I think it's that Black Spot fungus that affects VFT's. I went to my local Wal-Mart's garden...
Soem of my sarr seed has not germinated (all one species in its own pot). Some grey mold is growing is on soem of the seed. How do I kill the mold with out hurting the seed? Is their any method I could use besides fungicide?
I have some mold on my rotundifolia. I just took it out of dormancy and some of the plants in the clump look dead, and have mold on them. It looks like it could spread to the other part of the clump to the plants that are still alive and growing. Will this hurt the plant? I have some natural...
