    Fish emulsion question

I bought some Alaskan brand fish emulsion today. Gonna try this stuff over Terracycle since that doesn't last long. I mixed up 1 tsp. in a 2 liter bottle and there's a decent amount of sediment at the bottom. Should I siphon off this sediment, as all of the nutrients are water soluble anyway...

    Carnivorous Creations Mini bog

I was at the hobby shop today, and I was looking in the science section when I saw a carnivorous creations box. I had thought about buying one, but I decided not too. I couldn’t resist I had to have it! It was actually better than I thought. The only bad advice they gave was to fertilize in...

    Drosera care sheet

Does anyone know where I can find a nice simple clean caresheet for Drosera? I've had some interest in my plants lately; first from my mom, then from someone at work. I have a number of Adelae that are fantastically healthy, so I thought I would indoctrinate them into the religion of CP-love...

    Recyling activated carbon

Can I recycle activated carbon after it's used up? I change it in my filter once every two weeks, and was wondering if I could use it as something to make medium for CP's chunkier instead of throwing it away. I'm thinking perlite substitute. I imagine it would absorb fertilizers, but then again...

    Cephalotus pics

It's a new (although not the newest) pitcher on my Cephalotus "Hummer's Giant". I'm not satisfied with the color, so I lowered the metal halide about 5 inches. I hope it doesn't burn it: I don't think it will. I wish there weren't so many growth points overlapping each other, but there's no way...

    Cloudy Aldrovanda tank

Whats up my peeps? I've got a "problem". My Aldrovanda tank is cloudy! Now I know about fish and why aquaria can get cloudy, but this Aldrovanda tank (really just a big rubbermaid tub) had no living critters in it visible to the naked eye. Not even any mosquito larvae. It has 2 kids of grasses...

    Fertilizing seedlings

I've read that fertilizing cobras will speed their growth. My question is should I do it just after they germinate, or should I wait some time? Also, which fertilizers are best? Finally, is it beneficial to fertilize sarracenia or vft seedlings? Thanks

    Angel's Trumpet/ Brugmansia

Hey guys. I have like... 2 or 3 of these cutting I can trade. I forgot if the flowers are white or pink or yellow, but I want to say yellow-I can't promise anything on that. They have nice healthy leaves. They are unrooted. Actually they are small so I guess I can just dig them up but I can't...

    Feeding temparate pings

About a month ago I recieved 3 P. macrocerus and they seem to be doing fine but I haven't noticed many insects being caught so was wondering if it would be ok to feed them and fertilize them like we all seem to do with our Mexican pings.Do you all think it would have a positive effect in say...

    Exponential pitchers

I posted this at another forum so I figure you guys might want to see my crappy pics. I'll just paste the whole post. Do you find an advantage to using natural fertilizer over artificial? Here's 3 consecutive pitchers of N. bical "red" x campanulata. If anyone else has one of these I'd love to...

    Epiphytes Delight and pings

Hi All, I have a container of Epiphytes Delight I bought a few years ago from Cal.carnivores and was wondering if I could use it to fertilize my pings in place of the Peter's 20-20-20? In the book "The Savage Garden" Peter mentions he has used it on virtually all CP's. The fertilizer is 17%...

    Trying a no-sphagnum mix.

I'm trying to see how a no-lfs mix works for me. I'm using cedar mulch, pumice, charcoal, and some peat/sand mix. I figure I can fertilize this mix and not end up with mush, and this plant hasn't been growing any for me anyway. Capslock

    ID this Sarracenia

I picked this up at OSH (Orchard Supply Hardware) Monday. The tag on the pot said it was from Nursery Man's Exchange (aka Bloom-Rite). Since NME is a broker for Booman's Floral, most likely the plant is from Booman's TC factories. Most disturbing was the little flag card that was in the pot...

    FAMOUS Nepenthes Fertilizers

Hello to everyone! I wanted to try Miracid in order to fertilize my Nepenthes or at least some of them that are a little too slow. Looking on the net I found 2 versions of Miracid that makes me some confusions....which on I should buy? And are those ones the right ones? I post here 2 pics...

    Fertilizer

I know that we should not fertilize dionaea especially due to weak and sensitive root. However, could we use 'leaves fertilizer' instead of 'soil fertilizer'? We may use swap method not spray method for application to avoid media contamination. Have anyone ever try it? Regards, syx

    ampullaria (green form)

I remember someone bought up this matter some months ago. I have mine repotted on a shallow tray with sphagnum moss and peat soil. It also has 5 off shoots after i trim back twice when the stem get more rigid and thick. Next it will be in a hanging pot as the foliages with pitchers are...

    Soft leaves and growing point

Something strange has happened to my N. macrovulgaris. The mix is already wet however it looks like it is dehydrated, with soft pitcher, and leaves (even the growing point is soft). I have had a few plants die from this condition before. Sorry I don't have a pic but there isn't much to see 0...
