I set up a simple table with most all Nepenthes species broken into the five common categories; ultra-lowland, lowland, intermediate, highland, and ultra-highland. I have based the placement on altitudinal distribution mostly. I also have temperature range at the top of each category.

Out of sheer boredom, I drew and sketched two pictures of neps using only a pencil in school today. Took around 15-20 minutes per picture.
Nepenthes edwardsiana. I don't think I got the proportion right and I have forgotten how the lid was :-))
Nepenthes veitchii. I think I got the stripes a...

I was just browsing around the internet earlier and came across an article detailing what may be a new form of Nepenthes edwardsiana that exhibits a much darker, even somewhat purple peristome and shorter, more orange pitcher. Field biologist Richard Astley has described it as the most amazing...

It seems like hairy red Nepenthes hamata is all the rage... which one would you rather have?
I like the toothy Nepenthes because it's just really neat that a plant can end up looking like a shark's mouth ... Nepenthes villosa is slow as molasses, Nepenthes macrophylla is a pouty plant for me...
So, it's overcast... but stuff is finally growing, so I took some *slightly* blurry shots :p
Nepenthes hamata red hairy clone is actually quite a quick grower for me
Nepenthes tentaculata too - though that basal is really struggling to get out from under its mommy :p (Nepenthes veitchii...
After doing research, I found that there is not much cultivation information on N. burbidgeae X edwardsiana. This plant definitely is on my want list. From what I have read,
1. This hybrid can grow in lowland conditions. Someone on this forum accidently put this plant in a lowland tank...
Well, I'm trying to go through my collection and find extras of stuff and figure out what I still want. I just redid my cobra/vft minibog and found out I have extras from there and other places, and want some stuff too... Please only in the U.S. If you don't have stuff to trade, anything that...
I agree DETHCHEEZ, that it is a very nice Nepenthes, and shouldn't be scorned just because its name is bogus. Unfortunately many CP continue to be given bogus names, when valid names can just as easily be created.
I believe that, since its parentage is not known for certain, perhaps it wouldn't...
So I'm curious who all is growing this and how. What are your lighting, temps, humidity, air flow, soil mixes, etc.? I'm interested in all your direct experience with this species. I'm putting up my new HL chambers soon and I hope that eventually my number will come up this spring and I'll...
Hey all. I remember reading an article about the germination and growth requirements of N. edwardsiana and some other ultrahighland Nepenthes a few years ago. I thought it was located on pitcherplants.com, but I can no longer find it there. If anyone can direct me to this article, I would...
