I have a small N. truncata (4" to 5" across) that I am going to giveaway. No shipping necessary. I don't know if it is a HL or LL, but it has grown well for me in my HL conditions. It has been a trooper these last few months with some neglect and is (now) very drought resistant... There will be...
Hey Guys!
Thought i might pass some humor your way. What started out as o Im just gonna buy 2 or 3 sarrs to try my hand at it from a two dollar drought sale on ebay has turned into this(refer to pics) HELP! keep in mind all this(buying, research, joining this site) has only happened over...
One of the plants I got this spring from a "drought sale" has put up a flower bud. If it opens it will be my first ever Sarracenia flower.
It has cleared the rhizome (growth point?) but now it's just sitting there.
I have only had the thing 3 weeks or so, but I get worried easily.
After you...
My plants don't seem to be doing so good, and I think it's because of the water I've been giving them. When I was at my university last year, I gave my Nepenthes Ventricosa tap water and it thrived. Therefore, I've been giving my outdoor plants tap water, and my plants appear to be getting...
Hey guys, this weekend I found a fantastic local nursery (50 miles away) that has a great selection of odd tiny Mesembs and I picked up Lapidera margaretae, it looked very good but today it's wrinkly on the newest growths. I misted it but it's still wrinkly, should I actually water the soil? I'm...
took some pics today when watering.
this nep has really taken off since cutting the vine it had.
I have had this for 3-4 yrs.
It's very drought resistant and pitchures in low humidity.
If you want a great starter nep buy one of these from andy:)
Has the title suggest, my leuco has a slight problem...or major, not sure.
I've been seeing that the new pitchers are...unslightly, here are pic to show what I mean (should I repot just in case or leave it alone to see what happens?):
It must survive so I can make hybrids with it and so...
Hello peeps. I'm looking for Darlingtonia. No little seedlings or 1 inch plants, please. I'm looking for larger plants, at least 4" (I'm flexible on the size) but larger is better. I have miscellaneous Sarracenia to trade. Nothing special. Unless you want some of the native orchids or other...
I've neglected this plant all year and it's survived the drought without any extra water or fertilizer. It would look SO good if I had taken proper care of it. It's a later bloomer and small compared to the monster it would have been but it's still pretty :) And it smells heavenly!
Really...
Hi:
I haven't been on much lately. Really struggled with my plants this year thanks to the drought. Every storm seemed to miss mid-Michigan and went North or South of us. Had to take all cps except my pitcher plants inside because I couldn't keep them moist enough outside.
Just a couple of...
I've not been having luck with these and am DETERMINED to make it work. Since they are native to this region, they should be fairly easy-yet I killed them. Now that it is raining and our drought seems to be over, I'm ready to give them another chance.
I am limited in my healthy trade...
I recently got some topo maps and I've been looking for some good places to search for cp's. I noticed that there is area about 5 miles around labeled "wetlands" about one mile from my house. I have been by this area thousands of times but it doesn't look like any cp's would be there.
Ever...
I have been growing some pitcher plants outside in a 10 gallon aquarium since March. it has been a pain with the drought and all, but they are doing well and are starting to show some color even though they are not that old. I noticed that someone suggested growing them with 24 hour lighting to...
and the storm said "Hey look! Blaine has his pitcher plants out in the open." And the mighty storm dropped over 2 inches of rain, which was good. But they were huge drops with alot of hail and wind. And the plants said "Ouch!"
Here are some pics of the results. Almost all of my sarrs took...
Hey yall, been a long time since I posted anything but I have a question about Hydrangeas. Right now I have pink Hydrangeas and I have been trying to find out the best way to turn them deep blue/purple. I read organics like coffee grounds, vegetable peels, and fruit peels are the best way to get...
A few Days ago my "dead" dente that went 9 days without drought dew to a neglectful parent, Has shown LIFE!:-O I dug it up because 3 leaves that were growing stopped but never turned brown. The buld was growing a new root! Now today it is making a new leaf, I hope it will make it until I can...
My VTF has come out of dormancy and sence it is still to short of a day and is only growing light green traps and skinny leaves.:-( The only good thing I found out today is that my "dead" dente actullay lived through a 9 day drought by growing a new root! Thank god!:hail: I am not sure what to...
I was just curious what weeds have been a problem for your cps, either in pots or in the ground. I grow my Sarracenia in large, undrained pots. I am not sure of the species, but I have a type of fine rush growing in some of them. It grows a large root system and spreads quickly by rhizomes. I...
Years ago I searched a pond in the Green Swamp for cp's. There was a major drought going on. The water level was very low and you could walk where water would normaly be waist high. The floor of the pond was carpeted with D.intermedia and capillaris. I have waited all this time until the next...
