worm like pest

I'm growing CPs in the Desert of Tucson, Az

my vft was getting brown arround the soil... no matter what more/less water it just kept going. it is in the same tray of water and others look good. today i took the dead leafs out and examend the soil... i found quite a bit of these translucent worm things...

please advise what i could do if i see this in the future and what it is...

That is a fungus gnat larvae.
They don't really cause any problems unless you have a big infestation of them. The best thing to do is buy a sundew such as D. binata which will catch the adult flies and reduce the population.
